After some life changing things that have been going on the last few months or so the wife and I sat down and she said she thought it would be a good idea for me to get a boat so I can spend more time out on the water fishing. I had been looking for a while and just couldn't find anything that really tickled my fancy. It seemed as though it was an old fixer upper or something out of my price range. I finally found one that I was interested in but it was a trade in and the guy kept his TM and all of the electronics off of it. I went and looked at it and I was able to have the dealer install what I wanted on it and get out of there with a price that I was happy with. They delivered it to me last Friday (Dec 20th) on my Birthday and I was finally able to get it out on the water yesterday. I spent more time playing than I did fishing but it was good to get out in my own boat. It is a 2003 Triton tr186 with a Mercury 150. Dealer installed a MK Terrova 80lb 24v TM, HB Helix 8 Mega Si Mega Di at the console, Helix 8 Mega Di at the Bow, MK 330 on board charger, 2 new Interstate deep cycle batteries, new Interstate cranking battery, Pro trim on the console, boat buckle transom tie downs, and a hot foot. I put new wheels and tires on the trailer, keel guard, new latches and a new steering wheel on it. Everything on the boat worked great and I look forward to many trips on the water.

Sorry, this was just a quick pic after I returned home from the lake and it was almost dark.

Don't ever take this for granted!

Nice boat! With the mild winter that seems to be occurring in your parts, you might not even have to wait to put some fish in it.

Noice, congrats on the new rig

Sweet! Even if you catch nothing until spring, that’s still way better than having to store it for months. I wish I could still take mine out, even just for a ride.

When the wife says something like that, you don't ask questions, you just head to the local boat shop!  Lol. Congrats on the new boat!

I want to thank everyone for the kind words. My wife is an amazing person indeed. I didn't include this in the original post because I wasn't sure how it would be taken. But here it is...As someone who drank everyday for the past 10+ years I decided I needed to change. One night while my wife and kids were asleep I was sitting on the couch watching TV and drinking, like I did every night. I went to the refrigerator and got a beer and walked back into the living room where there is a large mirror above our couch. I looked at myself in the mirror and said "I'm done." I walked back into the kitchen and poured every beer I had down the drain. Today makes day 115 since I have taken a drink. I made it through the OU game and I will make it through tonight. That probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some, but it has been a battle for sure. My wife encouraged me along the way and said I should get a boat to help me get out and clear my mind and do what I love. She is certainly a reason I am a changed person and I owe a lot to her.

First thing in fixing a problem is knowing you have one.  You sir have achieved not only knowing you have a problem but then doing something about it.  Congrats in battling and overcoming your demons. ?.

Truly good read and glad you shared!  Nice to hear how you're wife supported you and how you handled yourself.  You thought you needed to change so you changed.  That sir is how a man should handle his business!  I'm sure it wasn't a cake walk and congrats!  Nice looking rig as well I'm sure it will serve its purpose well and look sweet doing it!

God Bless you sir and you hang in there.  I grew up with a dad who had the same problem, but by the time he corrected it he developed leukemia and died at the age of 42 while I was a high school junior.  You will make it and do not give up....ever.  And God bless your wife who has remained at your side.
