Well after years of trilene xl use and encountering some knot issues gonna make the switch to stren. How does the 4 and 6lb behave on spinning reels vs trilene xl? Stren seems to be the same with the exception of higher diameter than trilene in the 8lb and up sizes

I've been using Basspro Excel for many years with great results.  I use mostly 6, 8 and 10.  My small spinning reels work great with 6.  It's the same diameter as Trilene and Stren.

Nothing wrong, with the stren in 6lb test. No out of the ordinary line twists or weak points. I use it for leaders on my spinning setup from braid and in the past I used it as my main line. Like Bassman said above, if you were having issues with the trilene, then you’ll have issues with stren. Just practice your knots and make sure you are spooling the reel the proper way.

I used Stren way back in the 60's, if my memory serves, I continued to use it in the 80's. Then I switched to trilene for years. In the early 200's I used YoZuri hybrid soft. Stopped fishing for a few years due to health issues. A year ago, I went back to trilene, then I tried Sufix Elite, in camo..to me it was a game changer, soft, no memory, decen knot strength..and reasonably priced, and it comes in 330 yrd. spools. I liked the sufix so much, I bought 6 more spools in various lb tests.

DuPont sold thier monofilament line facility to Vicous and moved the production to Brazil I believe, it's not the same line it was 20+ years ago.

If you to improve your mono choice use Maxima 5 lb test UG.
