Anyone have any experience with a Lowrance LMS-522C? I'm looking for a GPS/FF combo unit for my Bass Tracker and like the looks and reviews I've see of this one over the Humminbird and other brands with comparable units. Any feedback on it?

I have a 522 on my Tracker and absolutely love it.  When I win the lottery I'm going to install another one on the bow.

Well...I thought I had found the one I wanted in the LMS-522C, but as I went back and searched the forum for old threads on fishfinders, I'm starting to wonder if I should just save my money a little longer and try to get one of the Humminbird units with side imaging.  Any one have any updates on the performance of their SI units?  Any gripes or complaints?  I read the Tackle Tour review of the 797C2 and am kinda concerned about how well the SI works at slow speeds on the trolling motor.  Any input on that?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Bassyak, join the usergroup for SI units on the Yahoo web site. Some Humminbird reps along with lots owners discuss the set up and use of that technology. You may not want the technology if you cannot use it within its optimum operating parameters.

Go ahead and get the Humminbird SI. You won't regreat it.

Yep.

My unit is Bud's old one.  I have a 16ft Tracker Jon w/ a 55lb Minn Kota on the back.

Top speed w/ me and partner, full gear and three batteries is 3.3mph per the GPS on the unit.

That is more than fast enough to use the SI unit.

LMS-522 is a great unit, but nothing compares to the Side Imager.

Word is that Lowrance has something coming out soon that may blow the SI away.
