ike8120 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 I am just getting started with using Shakey Heads. My question is what is a good all round plastic bait to start with. All my fishing is from a dock or bank. Quote

The Zoom Trick Worm and BioSpawn Plasma Tail (6.5 inch for most shakey applications) are both killer! The plasma tails also work great for dropshotting, both 4.5 and 6.5 work amazing. 1 Quote

hobson232 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 X2 on the zoom trick worm. I also like the zoom mag finesse worms when I want a bigger profile. Unsolicited opinion, but I prefer the screw lock design on the heads. Seems like the bait falls down the shank of the others if I don't glue it. Quote
papajoe222 Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 If I'm fishing a shakey head, it's sitting in one spot for a long time and because of than I want a bait that floats and has little or no appendages. A thin 4in.-6in. worm will sway back and forth after the slightest line twitch. A Havoc Pond Hopper comes to mind. Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted December 23, 2019 Super User Posted December 23, 2019 Zoom Trick, Zoom finesse, Zoom Shakey Head reg & magnum, and Roboworm make up the bulk of my SH fishing. If I had to pick one it'd be the Zoom finesse . Quote

ike8120 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 I just bought some Bio Spawn plasma tails and Zoom Trick worms. Hopefully this will be a good starting point. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted December 24, 2019 Super User Posted December 24, 2019 *Also Netbait T-Mac , Davis Baits Shaky Worm , Big Bite Baits Jeff Kriet Squirrel Tail Worm , ZMan Finesse Worms , Zoom Swamp Crawler , Berkley Powerbait Bottom Hopper Worm , Grandebass Airtail Wiggler Worm and Roboworm Fat Straight Tail Worm ... Look for a Green Pumpkin color variation , a Watermelon color variation and a Junebug / Redbug color variation as those three ~ 4 color families will cover most of your shaky head needs . Additional color worms which have their place for shaky head : Alabama Craw , California Craw , Desert Craw , Texas Craw , Okeechobee Craw , Bama Bug , Tilapia , Prism Shad , Electric Shad , Aarons Magic , Bold Bluegill , Black Grape , Dirt , California 420 and Baby Bass . 1 Quote

GrumpyOlPhartte Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I don’t do a lot of shaky-head fishing, but I agree with a lot of the above. I am partial to the Zoom mag finesse worms and would add the Biospawn Exostick to the mix. The nice thing about the Exostick is that the worm is segmented so I can vary the length by simply snipping off segments. Just as a side note, there were a couple of times I found that rigging the worm bass-ackwards seemed to help. Not sure why - mebbe it changed the motion a little or something. Could have been coincidence too. Just thought I would mention it. 1 Quote
