JLewis134 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 2 days ago when driving home from work at 7 pm I ran off the road (lucky no one was hurt) and family admitted me to the hospital as I was completely unaware that I ran through 2 of the yards in my neighborhood and running over bushes and shrubs. Somehow got home and was so clueless. Co-workers have also witnessed small cases while at work. Went to the hospital and it appears that I had an absence seizure in which I can no longer operate any motorized vehicle (boat, truck, etc). Very upset as I scratched my new vehicle all which can be buffed out but having to pay $350 and now feel useless as I have to taken everywhere and my family is scared to let me do anything alone. The next few months I will be back and forth to doctors to hopefully figure everything out and get back to fishing. To those of you healthy mentally and physically, enjoy it and always be grateful! Happy Holidays and be safe! 6 2 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted December 21, 2019 Super User Posted December 21, 2019 Hang in there @JLewis134, no one got hurt, you’re ok and family and friends are concerned for your well-being. Your positive attitude in getting to 100% with the doctors help will have the fish trembling as you head to the water with rod in hand... 1 2 Quote

Im lucky I didn't wreck my car just need to hire an auto detailer and a landscaper for the neighborhood. Overall, lucky but sucks not being able to fish when I want. Have to have a buddy with me now just in case. Quote
Shimano_1 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Best of luck and a speedy recovery on your venture! Given the possibilities that could have happened...a cple scratches on your vehicle are quite minor! We all take things for granted every day and this definitely made me thankful I'm still pretty healthy at 40. Best wishes on your journey! 2 Quote

Super User Oregon Native Posted December 22, 2019 Super User Posted December 22, 2019 Oh....wow. Well ... since we lost our daughter to cancer I quit the hot dog cart and have/had semi retired. Was working at the golf coarse part time and life was good. Well for about a week or so the middle part of September I noticed I was walking into things on the right side....some of them rather sudden and painful...So I'm working at the coarse late September and Boom....I ran golf cart into another parked golf cart....and said to myself....!@#$ ...something is going on. Called wife and said I need a ride home...something is going on. Called Doc...they got me into an eye doc...this eye doc sent me to his big brother eye doc and this one sent me to his big brothers ...big brother....(saying this as I can remember all the fancy titles) So the last one says you have cancer in your brain....wow...game changer and mood enhancer begins. Within the next couple days I go get brain scans....believe CT...and was diagnosed with stage 4 Glibastoma. And it has been a ride since then....lots of cute nurses, poking and prodding, praying and seeing how wonderful people are. All I know now is I'm still on the good Lords entertainment committee and loving life a little more. You will be doing a lot of thinking....try to stay positive...it really really helps. Sounds like you could doge a bullet...sure hope so....will be praying. I like to say...In God I Trust....others pay cash. Stay strong. 1 Quote

Super User slonezp Posted December 22, 2019 Super User Posted December 22, 2019 Hopefully the doctors get to the bottom of things quickly. You may still be able to drive. Years ago an electrician friend of mine had a seizure while driving his service van. Fortunately the only damage was to the van he was driving. He was put on seizure meds and was able to get back behind the wheel 6 months later. For him to drive legally, he must continue to take the meds and see his doctor twice a year for the rest of his life. If he ever has another seizure while he's on the meds, he's done driving for good. Think it's been 10 years now seizure free. 2 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted December 23, 2019 Super User Posted December 23, 2019 Thankfully, no one was hurt, aside from the hit to the ego in being able to drive. Don't sweat that. Listen to the docs, make sure they listen to you. Ask questions. You will figure it out, and get well. We're all pulling for you! 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 25, 2019 Super User Posted December 25, 2019 Oh good luck! I hope they can find out why you're having seizures and get a working treatment so you can drive again. My girlfriend had a string of having seizures every hour or more and they couldn't find anything, not 100% to this day but they have stopped and it's been years since she had one, and she couldn't drive for 6 months. At least nobody was hurt and it sounds like nothing too major was wrecked. Quote

No more maple tree scratches where I ran 2 trees over lol. Had my fasting blood test, EKG, MRI, CT Scan, and now waiting on my EEG test before my diagnoses. Still can't drive under I meet back with the nuerologist. To all of you, thanks for the kind comments and prayers. Hopefully soon I will be back on the water enjoying fishing and driving again!
