Thanks Catt. I've got a little extra money this winter to spend on a new reel. I havnt bought one for quite a while. I like the Lews casting reels, and think they offer a good value for the money. I was going to get a Lews LFS model, but this one will work good also. I'm ordering this one today.

Saw it.  Have one.  Have 10 more reels than rods.  Have way too many rods.  Might not be able to pass this deal up anyway.

I sent my Calcuttas to Delaware Valley Tackle to be overhauled so I bought a LFS & really liked it. Tackle Warehouse had the Tournament MB for the same price so I bought one, hands down the best reel on the market.

Just bought one and posted in the sale thread before I saw this. Its an absolute steal at $80. I got the 5.6:1 which has a larger spool and longer handle. I was looking at the BB1 for cranks but this is perfect for me. It's a shame theyre discontinued. The new tournament MP looks like the same reel for 10 more dollars (and gross red coloring).

I hope it isn't like the Tatula CT Type R.  If so, gross is right.

EDIT:  Checked out the MP at TW.  No where near as bad as the CT.

Do you wanna get rid some of your super old, obsolete daiwa?

I thought the same thing about the new MP, all of my casting reels are MB's but needed a left handed 8:3.1 so decided to order the MP.  It is actually a nice looking reel once in hand.  The red is actually not that bad in person, in my opinion!  Nice reel from the little bit I have messed with it since getting it.

Get back monkey!!!  Geez!  I don’t need it...but it is a great reel.  I have the 6.8:1 already...the 5.6:1 I might be able to use??

I got the 7.5.1 about a month ago for $80 at DSG and thought it was a great deal and was impressed with the reel, so I picked up another one yesterday in the 5.6.1 gear ratio for cranking.

I looked at it again and i suppose the red is done in tasteful accents. I just like the gold instead. Might have to look at a BB1 or even then BB1 pro in the future. Of course the tourney pro looks good as well...

Not really.  I have an older Daiwa with a flipping switch instead of a thumb bar that doesn't see much use simply because I like a thumb bar better.  Finish is tougher than on a TD-Z.  Casts just fine.  Uses MagForce V.  Been sitting long enough that it will need a cleaning before I use it again.  Pretty sure the seller listed it as a TD-S 103HL, but I have it listed as a TD-X in my reel file.  Don't think a box came with it and model isn't on the reel.  Doesn't look like any of the S models (or any other model) displayed here.  https://ontariofishing.com/Baitcasting-Team-Daiwa-Td/

I see a Zillion PE Line Special listed for $498 and $551 for sale in Japan in that link.  Now I could be talked into selling mine for that price.  :D  Price for a TD-Z 103H A.o.i. at $1308.33 might be a bit high.  :rofl_red:

That reel is probably my oldest Daiwa.  I have 4 TD-X reels.  A 100HSDF, TDX-103H, 103HVA and 103H Airmetal.  Bought the Airmetal from Tim Starnes so you know it has a few changes.  One being a Steez 100H spool although the original came with it.  Tim said the reel is a crazy-good distance caster now.  Got it at the end of the year and only been out once with it.

The 103H and 103 HVA have been thoroughly gone through and some upgrades made by Gulfcoastwader.  The HSDF is stock.

Sorry OP.  Don't mean to hijack your thread.

Mine shipped out yesterday. I missed out on the 8.3:1, but that's alright. The 7.5 will do me just fine. I won't get it until I'm back in town next weekend, though.

I guess I'll live.

sorry to bring up a 5 year old post 😂 but I just picked up a pristine td-x 100hsdf. Still in box and original packaging! Was curious if you would know what the value of that reel in mint condition would be today? I’m trying to decide if I should keep it or sell it. 😆

Good reels but you may need to upgrade the Drags to Smooth Drags. Value?

Thanks for the heads up.  I lost a rod/reel combo last week.  So far I've been holding the monkey at bay but this nudge might do it.
