galyonj Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 What are your deep, dark fishing secrets? I'll start. Y'all know the Senko? The stick bait that's caught gobs and gobs of fish? I have never, ever caught a fish on one. I read the FAQ, watched hours of video about it, all that. Never even got a sniff, as far as I'm aware. Not weighted. Not unweighted. Not wacky. Not Neko. Not ever. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 19, 2019 Super User Posted December 19, 2019 T-Rigs are my bane I use them regularly - various weights, various worms/lizards/whatever, various places. Not once have I caught a fish on one. Quote
galyonj Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Just now, MN Fisher said: T-Rigs are my bane I use them regularly - various weights, various worms/lizards/whatever, various places. Not once have I caught a fish on one. The first fish I caught when I got back into fishing was a freshwater drum on a t-rigged Ol' Monster in the tailwater of a dam I grew up fishing at. So ribbontails I like. Sticks, not so much. Quote

(I know I'm gonna open a can of worms with this one) Exactly - where else can you find a sport where you spend thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours of time to catch something that you...throw back? 4 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted December 20, 2019 Super User Posted December 20, 2019 I'm in my 40's. I've been fishing for years. I've caught thousands of bass in my lifetime on ALL kinds of techniques. I have never, ever fished a drop shot. Not even once. Quote
813basstard Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 We’ve covered this but let’s go... Caught a fish on everything but a drop shot. Hell, I sit down to tie the knot watching instructions and lose interest as the first commercial is on..Next thing I know, 9 beers are gone, sportscenter is on and there is muffled BS coming from upstairs..eh. Batteries are charged, meet at the ramp at 5:45 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted December 20, 2019 Super User Posted December 20, 2019 I've never bought a Wopper Plopper, and don't plan on it either. 6 1 1 Quote

I was talking to a friend about this today. Professionally, as a developer, basically I solve puzzles for money. When I think about bass fishing, I think about it the same way. Based on (list of variables), what's gonna get me bit today? And it's endlessly fascinating to me, getting continually beaten by an animal with a brain the size of a pea, that works solely on instinct, that will eat almost anything. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 20, 2019 Global Moderator Posted December 20, 2019 I don't like fishing lipped crankbaits. ?♂️ 5 Quote

I look at it more like hunting. You spend the money and take time to polish your skills in order to put something in the freezer and eventually on the table. 1 Quote
Frog Turds Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I confess that I dont throw spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, wormies and I dont own a spinner reel... Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 20, 2019 Super User Posted December 20, 2019 At this point, I'm pretty sure I could catch a bass on half a flip flop with a barbless treble before a stupid glide bait. I just don't get it. ? A-Jay 3 1 Quote

I have only caught a few on wacky rigged senkos ( although I slay them on a T rig. ) I have stated that on several other threads. A deep dark secret?? ? ?? I eat bass( no , not all of them) I use live bait sometimes. I fish bass beds( I do throw them all back ) Now That Ive offended half the people on the forum, I’ll quit. 2 4 Quote
