Just picked one of these up for my Dad for Christmas. Was hoping to snag a Stradic on sale but they sold out quick on TW...the Fuego seemed like a good alternative for the price. However, after reading some mixed reviews I was hoping someone out there has done some upgrades for the reel that they could share with me...I would really like this to be a solid reel for my Dad.

For example, I've read that some people add a bearing to the line guide...would like to know what size these are? Drag upgrades, etc. any info greatly appreciated, thanks!

Pay attention to the line lay when you spool up. These reels sometimes need the main shaft washers added or removed. Happened to me with my  2500. Otherwise, great reels.

I have a 3000 no issues with it. Fishes great..I did however had to add a washer to the spool to even out the line lay. Otherwise, for the price cant go wrong with it. Now my wife on the other hand owns a ci4 and a tatula LT so yeah..much rather have those lol.

Both of mine required a washer under the spool to flatten the line lay.

Besides that, great reels.  I don't think I would purchase another due to the line lay issue.

I have the 2500 and 3000 models.  Only thing I did was add a washer.  I am very satisfied with the reels, especially for $74.99 at Sportsmans Outfitters.

I've had my Fuego 2500 for some time now. Yes I had to add a washer, but it's really simple if you just cut the the plastic keeper off. You just have to remember Not to turn the reel upside down when removing the spool, took me about 60 seconds to add a washer.

Would I buy another Fuego spinning reel, yup, in a heart beat, this reel is much smoother than anything in it's class and some that cost more.

I have the 2500 and didn’t do any upgrades.  I fish it stock and never had any problems.  Awesome reel for the price.

When you guys talk about "adding a washer" what are you talking about? I do not follow, can anyone explain?

It's the plastic washer under the spool.
