Friendly reminder - lock your car doors.

It's the holiday season and lowlifes are out there trying to profit off of you. I woke up this morning to about 2" of fresh snow on the ground, as well as a fresh set of footprints up to the car doors of both mine and my wife's vehicles. The steps went back to the back of the house and then turned around and came back. I spoke with the cops about it and they said someone hit every single car in our community and the next development over. Thankfully both our cars were locked, so nothing was taken, but I think others weren't so fortunate.

You bet.  I used to not lock the storage shed in the back yars till someone stole a hand axe and went next door, chopped off a lock and stole 2 chain saws.

Always. It's cheap insurance. Also leaving an outdoor light on helps. And a "beware of dog" sign :)

Real dogs are better than signs ?

Kind of like the last dog we had - 10 pound Shih-Tzu/Pomeranian cross.

My Springer Spaniel barks her fool head off whenever someone is in my driveway. I'll never be without that.

We just had this happen in our small little community yesterday.  There were about 25-30 houses so far that have reported something being taken from unlocked cars overnight.  Christmas gifts, car seats, tie-downs, purses....just about anything that was attached to a vehicle.  So far nobody has any info on who it was and the cops are saying at least 3 people.  Tough time of year for things like this to happen.

My dogs are vicious. Most people say it but don't mean it. I'd rather have them than a gun lol. My German Sheppards are extremely skeptical of new people and protective. Lets say most people are deadly afraid of them and trust me I understand. Just ask the lawn people lol ?When they are being playfully aggressive, they can hurt me lol. GSD are very loving to those they trust, but I don't think intruders would fare well lol.

Most people here in So. Cali have alarms on their cars, as do I, except I had motion detectors installed on my truck, which is parked about 20' from my bedroom window. We also have a home alarm system, if the alarm doesn't deter a thief, then my 90 lb black Shepard will. Not only does she bark, she will growl loudly, most people don't like that..haha.

My girlfriend had her high dollar camera snatched out of her car while she was walking down a gravel road near the car a couple days . Even if it’s only 2-3 minutes lock the car! Also don’t leave cameras on the shotgun seat! The bad part is everybody on that county road knows who took it, even have an eye witness, but he steals stuff all the time and is in and out of prison. Nobody ever gets their stuff back and mr dumb()&& sticky fingers is always still prowling

I can't stand thief's.  I can only hope karma/hell will have a special spot for them.

Got 200 pounds between a Labrador and a Newfoundland mix in the back yard, you won't hear the gunshot through the dogs.

So you’d use the death penalty on thieves?

After having stuff stolen off of my carport to the tune of a couple grand and feeling the anger that caused in me, I would shoot a man or woman stealing from me, yes.  Not sure on where I'd hit in the moment, been a while since I shot something with a gun.

What would you prefer I do?  They won't hear me asking if they're armed.

Just my 2 cents. When you’re taking the stuff outta your vehicle that you don’t want to have stolen, don’t forget to remove that garage door opener from the car that’s probably on the visor. Be sure to lock the door and put everything you removed in the house.

Before the voters recently changed the law in this state, theft from an unlocked vehicle was a misdemeanor, from a locked vehicle a felony. YMMV depending on your state.

Sorry fellas, gun play for a few pieces of property just isn’t worth it in my opinion.

Merry Christmas

If you shoot someone breaking into a car, you’ll go to jail.
