I was wondering if anybody has links to an article of when to fish various presentations? For example, bets time of year for wacky rigs, ned rigs, etc...any links would be appreciated..

I don't know of a simple presentation chart that suggests what presentation to use when. MybCosmic Clock and Bass Calendar identifies basic bass behavior based on water temperature and daily activity levels that are constantly changing.

I try to select lures based on bass activity levels and location, depth, cover or structure being fished.

Welcome aboard Hydroracer.

There's so many variables - atmospheric pressure affects water pressure, light levels, sun angle, rain/drizzle...all those things can change and change the bass' behavior

^ This - combined with color selection...again based on the light levels at the depth you're fishing. This is why even the 'budget minded' of us carry LOTS of different lures.

The best time to try any particular fishing presentation is (A) when you think it might work or (B) when you're not that confident that it will work BUT you want to see what it looks like/feels like in the water.

Of the two presentations you mentioned, the Ned rig, is in my mind, more of an attitude thing.   You believe in it, keep throwing it, find a retrieve you like, stick with it and you will get bit.   If you keep at it there is a chance that you will end up like Ned, i.e. preferring that rig all the time and oblivious of any other options at any time.

Me, I just can't do that.  I carry a good quality Ned rig all the time in my boat, but I don't use it all the time, just when I think it is a good option.   Most of the time, when I'm fishing by myself, I've got many other options as well, ready to go.
