I bought a Dobyns Sierra 683C last year for throwing mostly vision 110's and flash pointer 100's an 115's.  I also throw some LC Staysee 90's and vision 110+1 and +2 as well.  At times I feel like the 683C is a little to stiff for my liking. Not necessarily for working the baits but definitely feel like you have to hit the thumb bar when fighting fish. Has anyone fished some JB's or topwaters on the 682C.  One thing I discovered from holding the 684CB is that the CB line of rods is way different with the same power rating as the regular rods.  My 683 sierra is definitely stiffer than my champion 4 power CB rod.  Just looking to see what anyone who has some experience with this rod thinks.

I am scared to move to the Champ 684CB and lose the fast action.  I have tried mod-fast jerkbaits rods in the past and just not a fan.  Especially in warmer water when you really have to work it hard.

You are right about one thing, the non CB designated  models whether Sierra or Champions will be faster in their actions.  If you have a 704CB Champion the 684 is very very similar in feel.  The flex moves a bit farther down into the middle third of the blank. My 684CB is probably my least used rod just because the 704CB does so much and I don't need the shorter rod to work baits.  Both 704 and 684 CB models are designed as treble hook models and provide that controlled give to reduce tearing out the hook.  Just to put my experience in context, I'm fishing for smallmouth and many times in current. PM me if you have any other questions.
