Super User slonezp Posted December 13, 2019 Super User Posted December 13, 2019 Headed to Kissimmee for a few days. Doing Disney etc. Resort is on a lake. I'm bringing a collapsible rod and a reel and some bullet weights. I'll buy hooks when I get there. Figure I'll bring some worms, senkos, and creature baits. What color plastics should I pack? Quote

Fishing_FF Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 For the Disney lakes, junebug is a spot on recommendation for their tannic color water. If you decide to venture into Orlando for some fishing, there are some clear water lakes like Ivanhoe, Conway chain, and Butler chain. A lot of people say watermelon for these lakes, but my experience has been any green works. If you got watermelon, great. If you got green pumpkin, great. Good luck and enjoy! 1 Quote

Fishing time is going to be limited. We're staying at the Holiday Inn Resort on Raccoon Lake in Kissimmee. My plan is to shore fish with my grandson in-between the plans the wife and daughter have made. Quote
SC53 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 June bug, red shad and watermelon. I have a buddy that does real well with purple and yellow tail too. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 13, 2019 Global Moderator Posted December 13, 2019 What I do up there is anything on the bottom I use Junebug also. When using anything moving I like red shad. Grab a bag of red shad Fat Max ribbon tail worms, a bag of junebug Rage Craws or Bugs, 4/0 hooks and a few 3/16 and 1/4 oz weights and you’re set. If you want to use Senko’s try a black and red weightless. Good Luck and Have Fun Mike 1 Quote

FLSTYak Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Junebug, black with blue flake, for worms or stickbaits. I like white for flukes 2 Quote

You’ve got some solid recommendations here. There is a Walmart either direction on 192 for hooks. If you want some Owners and Gammy hooks, you’ll have to head into Academy or BassPro up the road in the Millenia area. 1 Quote

I’m staying near Raccoon Lake while Disney vacationing and am hoping to fish there. Were you successful fishing there? I’m struggling to find information about where to fish at since I’m from North Carolina. I’ve only got a few short hours to fish so I want to be as efficient as possible. Any suggestions would appreciated. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted November 15, 2020 Author Super User Posted November 15, 2020 Never even took the rod out of the suitcase. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 15, 2020 Super User Posted November 15, 2020 If you go again, you might try to allocate one full day to fishing. I spent some time with ghoti and his family early this year. He and I fished ToHo where I caught my Personal Best 1/05/2020. Quote
