hey BR -

name's Paul, just started fishing not too long ago - just 3 months ago actually. always been into golf and other sports until my close friend introduced me to this addicting sport. have to say i've already spent a ton on tackle and rod/reel setups -- and love it so much i'm looking to buy my first boat in the coming months. i live in the top third of NJ, and dead middle between PA and NY along route 80. i haven't fished a ton of places but, i'm on fishbrain already and have been out almost every other day since i started fishing until the weather didn't cooperate.

thanks for having me - happy to be here.

1997 Sprint 286 DC Pro Tournament, with Johnson 115hp motor on a dual axle. Boat, engine and trailer are all in insanely good condition for the age. Basically getting it for free as well.

^^^very clean^^^

Looks like the boat has been garaged and well cared for. Very little with boat ownership is free in boating.

Member Way2Slow is a OMC expert and will be a good source for you to contact if needed. Your boat is rated for 175 hp OB and under powered with the 115 hp. OMC can be easily modified for more hp...Kieth can help you.

Welcome to BR sit back and look over video's and articles this winter and try not to get too over loaded with info or tackle. Unlike golf swings are free in bass fishing.

Tom

PS, just read your thread in the boats forum and see Way2slow has replied. 1997 bass boat shouldn't have glassed over wood transum, if it does dry rote is a serious issue.

Ended up seeing the boat tonight...and went for it. The transom is solid as a rock with absolutely no movement in it, and overall the boat has very little marks in the gel coat aside from one or two minor spots along the hip line from docking hard.

Welcome to the sport my dude. That is a nice starter boat! I started out with a Johnson as my first motor with a spitfire boat. (It was a really small boat) Tight lines!

Welcome to the forums! It looks like you wasted no time picking up a sick boat either. That's going to be so much fun, I have to say I'm a little jealous.

thanks for having me! yea it was a bit of luck to find it to be honest.

i just expanded to 6 rods/reels now....is it spring yet?? i'm stuck in DC for work - looking to pick up a fishing license and hit up the tidal basin...anyone been?? tips? tricks?

I was thinking i'd probably have to drop shot a bit since it's not exactly 70*F outside...should i try jerkbaits? cranks? ned'in?

Your forecast in DC is running low-40s to low-50s for highs. I'd say try all of those...even slow-rolling spinners might be an idea too, or light swim-jigs.
