I fish the super fluke weightless every now and then and sometimes I get it to move how I like it, but usually not.  Generally I use a gammakatsu 2/0 or 3/0 offset EWG and the point gets skinned on the outside of the belly of the bait.  How do you guys rig this bait weightless, and with what type hook?

PS:  Whoever always suggests wacky rigging this bait, I do sometimes, and thank you for the tip.

I have caught a few fish this way.

i got problems rigging these types of baits on my 2/0 gammy EWG's too. it difficult to rig texposed. i saw on a doug hannon video about taking a cork screw and puttin one end on the hook bend and screwing it into the nose of the bait. i havent tried it but it looked like its worth a shot. i'll have to put a weedguard on my hooks before attempting this tho.

Try the stright shank hooks and see how it works, I have gone from EWG hooks not getting the action I want, to straight shank with much better action.

I have seen a similar rigging to that of what dsaavedra described on the commercials for the banjo minnow and it made that bait go crazy.  Of course i'm a skeptic until I experience it for myself but def. looks worth a try!

Skinned on the outside of the belly? WHAT?!? I rig mine w/ a 4/0 EWG Gammy hook trigged weightless skinned on the SPINE or top of the bait. EEEEAAASSSYYYY hooksets....and great action. I think 2/0 or lower is just too light for the fluke.

yeah the ones i was using were the shaw grigsby jerk shads. the were 6" i believe. i guess my 2/0 is just too small. i'll try the corkscrew method. heres a link to the rigging method/video i described:

The zoom super fluke is truly a versatile lure and may be fished a number of ways.

I rig the fluke unweighted and upside-down on a Gamakatsu 4/0 Z-bend Super-Line hook.

I bury the hook-point as centrally as possible in the back-plastic which is only about 1/8" thick.

With braided line, hooking-up is a cinch, but removing the hook is often a problem ::)

I fish my weightless flukes with a 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu and texpose the point in the back but like Rolo I also fish mine upsidedown and have fished them with a 3/0 EWG Gammie rigged sidewards.
