I like my Ardent Apex Grand for jerkbaits, Keitechs, etc. They retail for $199 at TW and, while not a sexy Shimano or Daiwa, I prefer how they cast, for me at least.

For a number of reasons, I ain't a fan of throwing jerk baits with bait casters, however I you're going to try it I'd pop for a Curado 150 DC, which is a little more than your stated budget, but reels last for a long time and over that longer time, that $50 or so extra becomes negligible.

I agree, I personally throw them on an aldebaran. I was wondering if anybody used any of the older ones.

Lews tournament pro at Sportsmans outfitters for $139 . or Team Lews lite lfs for 169. Both reels 200 and up elsewhere. Guarantee both reels outcast anything you have used.

Lefty or righty?  Seems you like Shimano.  Used lefty C14 for $200 on another site.  Never used one myself, but it is a Shimano!  :teeth:
