Hoping someone here with more experience than I with fluorocarbon can advise me here. First question, if I were to rig up a reel with say 15 pound FC in the spring and do not use it at all that year could i just take it out and use it the next year with no problem? I guess the concern would be with all the memory setting in having sat on the spool so long? Would a lot of KVD line conditioner fix it?

Secondly, in the same scenario as above what if that next year I wanted to put a totally different line on that spool/reel. Is it just a given that I would have to trash the original FC or could I salvage it for future use by taking it off the reel and putting it back on the spool it came on? I know I can do this with braid but that may be because of the no memory thing.

Thanks

If you keep the reel in a dark cool place, i.e. no sunlight, I think you will o.k. spraying with KVD line conditioner will only last so long, but not as long as you want to store it.

Um, you certainly could spool up different line, while re-spooling the FC line, just try and not to allow any kinks in the fc line. If you do get a kink, trash that part of the line.

Heck yes you can use it after a year on the reel.  I have a couple of reels with 15lb Invizx I only use a couple of times a year, so in the spring I just pull one and a half times the length of a cast in my basement and crank it back on through a  KVD soaked cotton ball under pressure between my thumb an for finger and then hose it down again on the reel and good to go.  No coiling

I keep empty line spools just for pulling off lightly used line of all types with my electric drill rig and use  it at a later date.  Saves money.

I have also used Invizx for more than one season and I have had Tatsu for 4 years on one set up. Both have worked great.

KVD line conditioner works but if it sits for a long time, I just let some of the line out over the side of the boat and it seems to get rid of most of the line memory.

If the line manufacturer could spool the line on a smaller diameter spool without the line taking a set they would. Shipping a 2" diameter spool is less expensive then a 4" , the 4" puts a lot less memory stress into mono, coploy or FC line.

Your reel spool is under 1 1/2" diameter, tighter smaller coils with far more memory.

I never store line on reels always on filler spools in a cool dark place.

Wait until you need to respool line the day before your outing.

Braid has nearly zero memory and doesn't matter how you store it.
