I'm interested in your guys recommendations on hi vis line above 30lb. A lot of the premium braids coming in heavier sizes up to 30lb but I've found regardless of which mgl reel I use that I can inferior casting distance with this thin line. Smackdown in hi vis green would dig into itself. For some reason I struggle with most anything under 40lb in smackdown power pro max quarto. I'm looking for this line to fish a weightless senko around heavy grass. The ability to line watch is much appreciated.

I was using Sufix hi vis yellow in 40 lb and it was great but it faded pretty quickly. I just bought some new reels and I am spooling them up with green this time. Only reason is I bought a bulk spool of 832 in green.

If you don't want dig in you need to use at least 50 lb braid. I use Sufix 832. I tried 20 lb on a baitcaster but it did dig in at times.

@Chief250, I use the yellow Power Pro braid in 30lb and 40lb test with a InvizX or Sunline leader. I definitely appreciate the value of the bright line pitching stickbaits during the low light days of the prespawn.

I am trying Fins Windtamer, 40G and Original PRT in different colors and strengths.  Liking them the little I have used them so far.

Any idea why fins doesn't sell on 40g on tacklewarehouse?

More than likely that is Tacklewarehouse's decision.  Just like they don't carry every rod in every line of rods they carry.  I am sure it is money driven.  Fins is not a well known line to very many.  Why carry products that don't move off the shelves?  I wouldn't be trying Fins if it wasn't for this forum.  WRB's previous recommendations is why I decided to try Fins.

I'm interested to know your thoughts when comparing to the main brands

Inferior casting, how so?

Dig into itself, yes thin braid can dig into itself but even 40-50lb can dig too.

All I want to say is maybe adjust the way you cast might help. I’m not sure how you cast Senko and line dig into itself. From my experience hard whip cast heavy lure almost always braid line would dig into itself because the spool spin too fast (due to light weight line) than the lure can pull line out.

I too had this problem when using 20lb J-braid with 3/8oz and up lure weight. Switch to 30lb help but from time to time would get some dig in, even 50lb PP dig in bad when whip hard 1/2oz spinnerbait until I adjust my brake setting and also the way I cast. I found that with braid spool tension has to be a little bit tighter than normal (no side to side play).

I now have 30lb J-braid or PowerPro for everything from 1/4 jig to 1/2 frog, 10-15lb braid for finesse/Ned rig and 8-10lb on my Ultra Light.

Im not sure if premium would really help your problem, the 40lb PP maxcuatro have the same diameter as 30lb reg PP, Fins 40g 45lb is even smaller at .09” diameter 20lb PP same as Smack Down 30lb.

The MGL spool even lighter can make start up spin faster and more fluid no need for hard whipping for distance.

So for any braid, ( I would throw senkos, trick worms, etc.. on spinning tackle with braid to leader unless I’m punching or using crazy weights ), I would go 832. The “ Neon Lime “ is the best Hi-Vis 832, and lasts quite a while, much more than the low-vis green 832. 832 is incredibly smooth, and I have never had it dig. I’ve used 15-65# 832.

Ha Ha I use 15# hi vis yellow and that stuff looks like ROPE! I can't imagine what that yellow looks like in 30#+ weights....

I run 50lb and 65lb on my baitcasters, it's thick stuff.  The 50lb is about the same diameter as 12lb mono and the 65lb like 15lb mono.

15lb braid is about as thin as sewing thread. You should get some side by side with 50lb braid and come back with a picture and tell us if you still think 15lb braid looks like rope.

Send a message to WRB (Tom).  He has much more experience with it (and braid in general) than I do.  Can be found in this thread.

Sufix Performance was the first braid I used (40#).  It is one of their cheaper braids.  Had to change it after 4 years of use.  One day of casting a 3/4 oz. spoon tied direct twisted line too bad for further use.  Lost its color fairly quickly, but didn't hurt performance.  Was in Florida on vacation so I spooled on 40# Original Power Pro from Walmart.  It is very noisy through the guides.  Felt more sensitive than Performance, BUT I feel a lot of that was because of how the coarse line came over the guides giving a false sense of sensitivity.

I have 10# 832 Sufix Ghost on a spinning reel, 30# Ghost that came on a used baitcast reel.  Much smoother than Original Power Pro.  Obviously it doesn't lose color.  :D  First visit to Florida after buying this baitcast reel saw it make the trip with me.  Didn't dig in and I was snagged a few times.  However, it had tight spots in it when I first got the reel that had to be removed.  Don't recall ever having a dig in with 40# Performance.

Fins is a softer, and thus quiet line.  Compared to the PP I used.  As quiet as 832.  I'm afraid I haven't used it enough to give any useful information about it.  Put 60# Original PRT (in yellow) on my reel that I am using on my dedicated frog rod kept in Florida.  We only got out 3 times this year.  I did use it each day.  May drop down to 50# next time it needs changing.  Using 45# 40G (in blue) on a new-2-me Steez 100HL and a Toadface.  Unfortunately only got out with it once this year.  (Worked 2 jobs.)  Working one now so hopefully I can give a little more insight about the line by the end of next season.
