Super User FishTank Posted November 27, 2019 Super User Posted November 27, 2019 I have tried several and the 110 has always been the best with the LC Pointer in second.  If you asked me 10-15 years ago which jerkbait is the best, I would say the technique is more important than the bait. But after fishing the 110 for serval years, if you can reel it in and pause that's pretty much all it takes for it to work.  The other thing I love about the 110, the strikes I get it on it are generally vicious. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted November 27, 2019 Super User Posted November 27, 2019 It is the cold water king as far as jerkbaits go. Tried alot of them. The 110 just works. 1 Quote

pauldconyers Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 What would you say the effective depth of a 110 is? Would the 110+1 offer more of a universal use if it covers a larger range of depths? Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 28, 2019 Global Moderator Posted November 28, 2019 Feel free to post GPS coordinates of anywhere y’all have left a MB 110 hanging high up in a tree....... preferably within $24.99 of my driveway 2 Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 @Logan S, that's a nice spot. Hopefully I'll find some like that in the morning.  The Vision 110 is the king of jerkbaits and I am the king of detailing threads to talk about different baits and compliment fish. 1 1 Quote

RyneB Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 My .2. I always hated jerkbait fishing. Bought a few KVDs one year and decided I was going to commit to working on it. I didnt have much success at all and gave up.  Fast forward to winter of 2018 and I decided to get a Megabass vision 110 because the price was right and I needed to get to $50 for free shipping. (I know, they get me everytime). It was early early spring, ice was still on half the lake. I had my megabass vision 110 rigged up. I started my truck and was ready to leave the lake when I realized I hadn't thrown it yet. So I grab it just to make a couple casts to see what the hype was about. First cast I landed my PB. This was a spot I had tossed a KVD,swimbait, jig etc.  It made me a believer and it put fish in my boat all year, and eventually landed me my PB smallie as well. I have fished it right next to a KVD on days where they're biting a jerk bait and it just flat out catches more fish. It casts like a dream too.  It may not be worth the price to some people, but it's the bait I have the utmost confidence in. Which makes it priceless in my book. 2 Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted December 1, 2019 Super User Posted December 1, 2019 Without having a long-cast weight transfer system, does the silent 110 cast as well as the original 110? Â oe Quote

Never tried them, are the hooks good out of the package? If not anyone got a recommendation and size to go with?    Have you tried these yet? If not, id throw and catch one maybe two fish and then change the hooks. Megabass jerkbait hooks arent made for heavy bass. Switch them out with ichikawa if you can find them, if not, go ryugi first then owner st 36's. They are size 6 hooks, but megabass uses light wire, so if you want the same action, go for a 7 or 8 in normal/heavy.    You wont find them on sale except for random stores during black friday or ebay. Megabass "doesnt allow" sale's of their brand. Cheapest ive ever bought them for was 20$ at my local vance outdoors. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 1, 2024 Super User Posted December 1, 2024 Are Megabass jerkbaits really king or is it a confidence thing? Five years later and I'm singing a different tune. I'm going with YES. They are worth it. I guess we may need to define "worth". A-Jay 2 Quote

A-Jay I'm with A-Jay. I have other brands of Jerks but Megabass is all I buy anymore. Bass in the lake and Brown Trout in the River, Megabass outproduces the others. 1 Quote

The vision 110 is definitely the best. The lucky craft pointer is what I would throw if I’m worried about getting snagged. Not that I’d like to lose either. 1 Quote
Shimano_1 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Absolutely worth it to me. I've tried them all hoping something is comparable and I've concluded that the $ I've spent experimenting would have served me better buying more 110's. Of course I'm a typical hard headed man so I had to figure this out for myself. When they're aggressive there's several that will catch em, when they're pressured and the lure/color matters, nothing else compares in my years of experience. 3 Quote
Tackleholic Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 My downside to the Megabass 110 is fear! When casting to the bank  sometimes I will instinctively stop the lure short for fear of bouncing it off a rock, but I won't change brands. They are the best, and I "may" have nearly as many as A-Jay has. 1 Quote

Tim Kelly Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I have a weakness for jerkbaits and lipless baits. I barely throw crankbaits so can walk past isles of them without flinching, but the shiny rattly isles get me every time.  110jr +1 is probably what I have most faith in, but all the megabass are good, from the x70 to the Bigger 110s, they're all beautifully made and painted, but then so are my other fav brand OSP. Rudra is a naughty bait and Veruna a slightly smaller version. Duo make some great baits too. LC pointers seem to catch when others don't, so they're mandatory too. KVD 300 work, but you have to whack them like a demented woodpecker to get them to move like the more expensive baits.  Stunna, meh, Rapala, Meh. Both get thrown when the cover looks particularly knarly, or pikey, but never first choices.  Spinning rod for the win, BTW 😉 2 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 2, 2024 Super User Posted December 2, 2024 I'm not great at jerking. Â but the Vision 110 is the one I catch them on. Â I think I know why. Â the V110 is more delicate. Â you cast too far and land one on a rocky shoreline, you know what I am talking about. Â the lip shatters. Â I use mine on 10lb or 8lb line and I can just tap them ever so gently to get them to run right. Â I got this insight fishing a gin-clear lake and I could see my bait coming in from afar. Â I can twitch it. Â and it jumps. Â Â my other jerk baits need a hammier fist. Â 2 Quote
5by3 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Have had a lot of success on a vision 110, stunna, and rogue. Those are pretty much the only three I throw. Quote

The Vision oneten and oneten plus have accounted for several very respectable brown bass for me. But so has the Lucky Craft 100's & 100 Deep.  Sounds like my collection... and a pile more of all brands, shapes, and colors.  I'll add Rapala Shadow Rap and Rip Stops (shallow and deep) during the winter time. I can't say exactly why, but they work.   So, yes, I'll say Megabass jerkbaits are the king.  2 Quote
