Taylor1617 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I have a 14' 6" v hull boat. I live on a small lake and leave the boat in the lake. I had serious problems with my cover last year and it was a pain whenever it rained, not matter what I did my cheap cover would collect water. I just had a generic cover last year. This off-season I am modifying it a bit and need it to not collect a ton of water. Any suggestions on where I could find a cover to actually fit snugly and not let water collect in boat? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Quote
Ski213 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 You said no matter what you did. What exactly was that? I’m not suggesting that you didn’t do enough just wondering what you tried. A lot of folks have good results by using pvc pipe to create an elevated support system that makes a kind of ridge down the middle of the boat to facilitate runoff of the water. I’ve never dealt with it myself, but I’d think that the boat being on the water would make it tough to pull adequate tension down on the perimeter of the cover to prevent low spots from forming in the cover that could collect water. You might contact someone who makes truly custom covers for advice. They can be expensive but even if you don’t purchase a cover from them they might have some good advice. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 26, 2019 Super User Posted November 26, 2019 If I left a boat in the water for extended periods, in addition to a cover, I'd also put an automatic bilge pump in the lowest, accessible spot where water can accumulate. Cheap insurance, should the cover fail, for whatever reason. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted November 26, 2019 Super User Posted November 26, 2019 A custom cover makes life easier. There are few off the shelf covers that don't require an under structure or modifications to work well Quote
