dgahuts Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Hit a rock just under the surface, and bam it was gone I guess I'm looking for a leg and lower end. This sucks, the motor runs really well, and goes. I've had it about ten years, totally problem free. It's a 1967 Kiekhaefer Mercury 200 ( 20 hp ). Well I was going to do a restoration / conversion this winter, but I guess I can start now. Going to start with trailer. I'm checking to see if my insurance will cover it, they're supposed to tell me on Monday, will see. David Quote

dgahuts Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 I was flying full out and it was gone in a flash Quote
njpaulc Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Didn't think you could go fast enough with a 20 to do that kind of damage. Hope you can find parts for something that old. It really looks like you took good care of it. Good luck with insurance and repair. Quote
Wyattsdad13 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 man that sure was a pretty antique, looked like new, do searches at small ob shops, they are more likely to have their own bone yards, maybe one of us will come across one, i will check down this way in my travels Quote
JShrock07 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 If you had insurance on your boat it should cover it. I actually just had pretty much the same thing happen to me but it was in the dark and I'm not 100% sure what I hit. My lower unit is still there but my SS prop is completly ruined. I had my insurance adjuster (can't spell) come by my house and look at it and they sent me a check to start getting it fixed and as soon as I can find a good shop in my area I will be taking it there. Good Luck to You Quote
jax Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Insurance should cover it if you have it covered. You will have to meet your deductible. With the insurance company that I work for you state what you are going to cover it for but it is still figured as actual cash value. They will only give you what it is worth today minus your deductible. Quote
