Super User iabass8 Posted November 17, 2019 Super User Posted November 17, 2019 There's a list of exclusions posted when the sale starts. Of those on the list, only a few are actually excluded and it for the most part varies year to year. Last year, MinnKota, humminbird(most not all) and most (not all) megabass were excluded. when you checkout, the 20% won't be deducted for the excluded items most of the time. When you receive the confirmation email of the order, the 20% will be reflected in your total. There is no guarantee on what items are actually not excluded. You need to call them and they will answer your question and tell you how it works. Quote

Ever know someone that waited for months so that they could save 20% and then life happened?? Set a budget based on full price and live within it. That has worked well for me. Quote

Me Ill wait for a sale when waiting allows. This approach has saved me thousands$$$ over time. Quote

Since I have a small business that relies on folks paying my prices I normally pay full price and buy local if any way possible. American value used to have meaning. Funny how everyone wants to improve the economy but most don't want to help. But hey I guess it's not your problem either ??? 1 Quote

So you dont try to take the most tax deductions for your business. You dont deduct salaries wages labor rent supplies taxes utilities insurance. You sure can help the economy if you dont. Helping the economy doesnt necessitate throwing your money away. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 18, 2019 Super User Posted November 18, 2019 Minimum Advertised Price contracts/agreements have been frustrating and confusing for consumers for too long now. Manufacturers blame Amazon and Walmart....but now most all of them are in on the price fixing. I gotta think that they're close to overstepping the boundaries of antitrust laws, if they haven't already. Quote

You sound just like those that never by anything local. And actually some of those things I don't deduct. But like I said, it's not your problem. Quote

I gotta think that they're close to overstepping the boundaries of antitrust laws, if they haven't already. MSRP and MAP pricing are there to protect the companies profit, which in turn protects their employees, distributers and dealers. For some reason folks seem to think there aren't laws protecting consumers. I can promise you the hoops a company has to jump through to set pricing is extremely expensive and time consuming. Then retailers (online mostly) break the company's pricing policy rules which makes the situation much worse. In the end a small percentage of folks feel good about the deals they get but it hurts the overall economy and job prospects. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted November 18, 2019 Super User Posted November 18, 2019 I hear you. But when 873 out of 873 retailers sell an item for the exact same price (online and B&M), it doesn't smell like competition. And coordinated, cooperated stifled competition doesn't smell like capitalism. But thank you for sticking your neck out there for the good of the overall economy. Quote

Just bought the wife a 2+ carat diamond from a locally owned shop that I have bought from in the past. Did I pay his asking price no did I pay my lowest offer no we met in between and Im sure he still made money cause he let us pick out a platinum band for free. And no its not my problem if a place local or online cant offer the best price. Quote

Not sticking my neck out, just stating facts as I know them to be. I miss being able to talk to experts and like many things the reality is different than the facts in many cases. In many countries companies are allowed to set prices based on strict guidelines concerning cost and profit. In that case everyone is protected and the small business community is thriving. Not so much in the US ? It's a fine line and I would never say price fixing doesn't happen but as things stand the small business guy is taking a beating. And no I'm not always trusting either..... I don't use paypal because I don't like their privacy policies. I have to run purchases through a friend who always gives me shat.... LOL Quote
Dens228 Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 And the two going back and forth with nothing regarding the OP is how threads get closed...lol Quote
ike8120 Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 If you can't get the 20% off due to exclusions. Last year TW was offering gift cards at 10% off, you can apply them towards the reel. Don't know if it will be the same this year. Also TW offers a military discount with proof of service. Quote
