I am looking at buying a 2000 200 HP Stratos 19SS Extreme...  Everything is really good on the boat but the seller pointed out this mark on the back right side of the hull. They said it was a rub from the trailer but that doesn't add up to me.  That being said I still like the potential of the boat.  Anyone have any insight to how much this would coast to fix or is it anything 6CF387EC-2FCE-40CE-A8CB-FB2A9A3A6AD7.thumb.jpeg.d1fa8b64bb8dc689e92616aaf5da2bfd.jpegI even need to worry about fixing?

I'm no expert on this material, but it does look to me like a rub from a fender or other part of a trailer.  If you look closely you should see a lot of little short scratches that indicate slight movement when in contact with something that's not moving.  Looking a second time at the photo it appears that the "scratches" are actually "gouges," and in that case it would be somewhat structural since the base material looks to be damaged.

If it is a strike like from hitting a dock hard you should see a single long track of the object that did the damage. in that case I would think there could be structural damage.   In both cases if the base material is damaged, it's more than cosmetic.

However, most likely this boat has been fished since the damage occurred.  If this is the case it most likely is cosmetic.  Ask the seller when it happened.

Take it to a Stratos dealer for their assessment.

FYI, Stratos Boats are out of business (bought out by BPS). Anywho, is the damage soft or wet to the touch. If not and your getting a good deal I would buy it and get it patched. The only problem is getting the gel coat to match. Those are great boats.

You need to take it to a professional fiberglass repair shop.  Preferably one that has experience with boats and have it looked at and an estimate for repair.

I looks bad enough the water can get into the inner layer of the fiberglass.  This will make it separate and blister.
