Bass_Fischer Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 For those who throw them what's your preferred presentation, crawled along the bottom outside the weed edge or up in the weeds, with a snap and drop? I tend toward the former (usually with a 1/8oz mushroom head) but I have friends who swear that you have to get that worm up in the stuff to get the big'uns. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted November 9, 2019 Super User Posted November 9, 2019 My vote is in the weeds, but preferably over the top and down the edge. The primary weedlines are almost always key locations in natural lakes. A lightweight jigworm that lands on top of weed stems and leaves instead of burying in them is very effective, and the “snap” off and through those veggies is a great trigger. Just seems to be a more consistent bite overall on more waters than going outside the weed line, especially on good musky and pike waters. 2 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 Jig worms are always something that I totally forget to tie on once bass season comes, but the few times I have used them up here, they’ve been fantastic. We have a lot of lakes that have small cabbage beds often only the size of a couple boats, usually in 6-10’ of water that a jig worm works great at working the outside edges first to pick off the fish on the edges, then diving deeper into the beds to get whoever’s hiding inside. The beds aren’t usually too thick, and a jig worm can be fairly easily ripped off cabbage stalks without having to reel in and clean off. Thanks for the reminder of them, I’m gonna have to put a note in my boat to remember to tie one on next spring. Quote
