Leo Vann Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I target LMB, I fish alot of texas rigged Senkos, craws, 1/8oz jigs, etc.. I am planning on picking up a Tatula LT, but I can’t decide on the 2000 or 2500 size. I’m using 20lb braid to a fluoro leader, so no thick line. Pairing it with a 7’1 Med Fast Rod. Which should I get and why? (2000, or 2500) Quote
Tim Kelly Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Get the 2000 if you want a slower retrieve rate. I like slower reels for ultralight cold water fishing. The 2500 would be much more universal. Quote
waymont Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I would highly recommend the 3000 shallow spool Tatula LT reel with 20lb braid. It has the exact same line capacity as the 2000 but a wider spool for better line management. Also the 2000 is a very small reel for the rod you want to pair it with. I love my Tatula LT reels. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I recently had the same dilemma and I went with the shallow spool 3000. The weight difference from the 2500 to the 3000 is .1 oz - virtually nothing. The larger spool gives you a little better casting distance with finesse baits. After using it a few times now I would 10/10 get the same reel. TALT3000-CXH is the model number. 1 Quote
fvogel67 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 I have a Tatula 2500 on a 7’ MF St Croix Legend Elite. It’s absolute perfection 1 Quote
Bass Rutten Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 3000 for the win! Fyi it’s $145.87 on amazon right now, killer deal Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I use a twin set of Daiwa Fuego 2500D-XHs on a 6'10" Medium Light Fast and a 7'1" Medium Fast for my finesse needs. The 2500 series reel is a perfect match to the 7'1", but if you're going to be throwing baits lighter than a Senko I would seriously consider the larger spool of a 2500 or, as others have said, a 3000 Tatula LT. I wish I had opted for a 3000 for my MLF. I think the larger spool would throw my Ned and drop shots a bit farther. That's my reasoning behind you possibly wanting a 3000 for weightless Texas rigged craws. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Using thin braid I doubt the difference in casting distance would be measurable between a 2500 and a 3000. The retrieve rate would be higher given the same gear ratio and the drag performance possible a hair smoother, but that's about it. If you were using mono or fluoro there might be a small difference in casting distance. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted November 5, 2019 Super User Posted November 5, 2019 When Diawa did their revamp of spinning reels they reduced the over all dimensions, thus the designation as LT. My LT Ballistic 3000 is the same size as my OG Ballistic 2500. I would not go smaller than a 3000, even if paring it with a 6-10 rod. I run #12 braid w. leader and casting distance and line control are excellent with my Ballistic and Fuego LT's. Quote

GReb Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I have the 3000. It’s the same exact reel as the 2500. Just different spools. What I gathered was the 2500 was intended for straight flouro and 3000 was intended for braid. I’m a novice on spinning reels but I’ve enjoyed it Quote
