And yes, it's rough getting here - been 'here' for 4 years now. 1 Quote

Super User Scott F Posted October 31, 2019 Super User Posted October 31, 2019 The nice thing about being retired for me is that I don't have a schedule anymore. I may get up at 5, or I may stay in bed until 10. I don't decide ahead of time. Same thing about turning in at night. Schedules are for people who have jobs. After 50 years of having others decide where I have be and when I have to be there, it's my decision now. 2 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted October 31, 2019 Super User Posted October 31, 2019 I'm just going to be honest here. I'm REALLY jealous of you retired guys ?. I've got about three more years of labor. Work really interferes with fishing. 1 Quote
PourMyOwn Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Such is my life from June 15th-August 25. I'm a high school teacher. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, gentlemen. 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted October 31, 2019 Global Moderator Posted October 31, 2019 A month ago it was too hot, now its too cold? You might have retired in the wrong location..... 2 Quote

I am in the same boat. I retired to take care of my disabled wife. I have a Caregiver come in 3 times a week, so I can run errands, go to appointments and fish. She also likes the time away from me, occasionally. She is good friends with our caregiver. I have learned to fish in nearly any weather except lightning storms. 1 Quote

You must have a regular boat...even a jon-boat would be better than a canoe in wind and rain. Quote

I had an old mod v bass boat and kayak when I retired. I was able to trade the mod v for a small fiberglass bass boat. It will more than likely be the last boat I ever own. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 1, 2019 Global Moderator Posted November 1, 2019 One of the few good things left about my career choice, I started at 21, now nearing 34, a long 16+ more years to go until I can retire with a full 30 years of service at 51 fate willing ? My dad is getting really close to being able to retire. He's earned it. I can't remember a time in my entire life he hasn't been working at least one job and has always sacrificed to make ends meet. I'm sure he "could" retire right now, but he's got the best/easiest job he's had his entire life and gets paid great, so I think he's just trying to put as much as he can away to be sure they don't have to worry about anything once he's done. 2 Quote

Not sure if I'll be around to see you retire, so, have a cup of "Joe" on me today. 1 Quote

I mentioned starting my career in Denver to a new employee the other day and she said "wow you're way older than you act!" Still not sure if that was a compliment or an insult. Quote
