Revival Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Anyone have experience with rod wraps? I looked up a few and most of them had horrible reviews. Common theme is they fall apart quickly. I am looking for something that can hold 3-5 rods together while it’s in the back of my truck. Any recommendations? Thanks. Quote

I use these with great success. one up close to tips and one down lower. Just wrap them around your bundle of rods. Five seems to be the maximum number I like to bundle. Just do spiral wrapping around your rods and it works great to keep them together and tight. FM Available at Home Depot and probably other locations. 1 1 Quote

5/0 Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Had the Velcro straps from BPS for years, no problems. Used to bundle 6 rod/reel combos. Since I recently returned to fishing I now make two bundles of 3 each. Takes a little more time, but it’s neater and not as bulky. Also the reels line up better and don’t bang against each other. 1 1 Quote

FM Available at Home Depot and probably other locations. The smaller ones work great as an aid to tying reliable FG knots- Wrap the braid around one a few times and tie it to your belt loop. With the braid under tension make your FG in the normal way, but it's out in front of you , easy to manipulate, and not slipping out of your teeth in the middle of the knot. Easiest way to get a quick FG with really tight weaves that don't slip at all. Easier half hitches in this location too. 1 Quote

Since I have had mine, I pretty well anytime I go fishing, including what the OP is asking about and when I'm getting my kayak hauled by an outfitter or friend. It makes for less trips back and forth to the truck when you get to where you're fishing. It is $40, and the bungee solution is not. But I was going to cobble something together with PVC to carry my rods, and the hassle-free nature of this makes me glad I didn't. 1 Quote
