Anyone ever see this?  I have a 3700 box that sits in the boat compartment with all the other 3700 boxes, and probably 90% of my lipless RES baits are swelled, like the summer heat blew them up.  They arent taking on water, but the worst ones show the paint cracking on the spine of the bait.  Rattle traps are fine.  No other baits are this way, topwaters, jerkbaits, all fine, all stored in same boat hatch.

Oddly, the chrome ones are fine, but all the other colors have some degree of swell to them.  They still rattle, and seem to swim ok, but I'm sure the action isn't what it's supposed to be.

Kind of annoying, my OCD is going to end up replacing a dozen of them.

Pictures ?!

I might have this problem if I didn't constantly snag and break them off. I've never lost a lure more than this one. It's not because it's an RES tho. It's because it's a lipless and I can fish the whole  column with it and she don't rise when I bump into something, she buries into it ?. They catch fish tho. I'll give em that.

I've heard of this happening on occasion with strike king RES's . If I remember correctly, they might replace them if you contact their customer service.

It can happen, I've had it happen with a couple. I've heard several cases of it being resolved with contacting Strike King's CS.

Interesting, I will try to get in contact with them.  Thanks for the tip!  I'll see if I can get some pictures up.

All my SK square bills and lipless cranks swell and split I'm pretty much done buying them. They stay in a cool dark compartment except when being used. I'm done wasting my money

If you decide to get rid of them, let me know, I would like to acquire some

Never have encountered this situation with my Red Eyed Shad collection.

I keep them In their own Plano box in a cabinet in my garage and take only the colors I want to use when I go on the water.

Will keep an eye on them from now on.

Thanks a million of this information so we all will be ready to go back to Strike King to replace them.

It's more common than you think and it's not a problem exclusive to Strike King.  I lost seven Normans baits and five Luhr Jensen baits because I subjected them to heat for an extended period of time.  Tackle boxes are like vehicles when left in the sun. It can be 80 outside and 120 inside.

When we have extreme heat around here I bring my tackle box in the house so I don't have to worry about this happening. My boat is stored in the garage but it still gets pretty hot in there.

I had several of the 1/4 oz RES swell up.  Contacted Strike King and they replaced them, plus.  Had some more that swelled up a little bit, but could not make them track straight.  I just give up on the 1/4 oz and use the 1/2 oz.  Those didn't swell up for me.   I did ask Strike King if the ones that swelled up were pregnant and going to hatch out Bitsy Minnows.  They have no sense of humor.

A while back I took the paint off a couple of RESs. What I found was one had a white base and the other had a clear base. Would guess the chrome would be a white base for sure. Wonder if the plastics are slightly different which would explain why some didn't swell?

I think you are onto something there.
