Got this new reel. The box had small clear stickers in it about 3/4 of an inch long. Anyone know their purpose?

So it's to be put on the bottom of the reel seat to protect rod and reel seat?

Personally I have never used those little shim pieces.

Never really had to.

They are to shim and protect the reel seat. They come with most JDM Shimanos.

I have the Curado 70 version Engetsu.

I have that same model. It's a great little reel and I love the handle on it. I wish I could buy half a dozen of those handles.

They might go over arbor of the spool to use braid with no backer and prevent slip.  That reel is intended for #20 braid and vertical jigging for snapper.  I have the Curado 70 version Engetsu. I believe that is what that tape is for.

I believe this reel is a Ci4+ version of the Casitas with a clicking drag.  Kinda neat.

It is a neat reel tbh. It seems to have protection for the pinion support bearing similar to the tranx with the hydrostatic gasket. I was wondering if anyone can confirm that. Inside it looks very similar.

Are you talking about X-ship bearing? Shimano with x-ship will have two bearing support pinion gear, one on the frame and one on side plate under spool bearing.

The bearing supporting the pinion. Right side of spool, right hand Baitcaster. Left side of pinion. I don't believe it has the second x-ship bearing on the right side of the pinion

Ugh it is only 4+1 bearing same as Casitas  USDM and casitas MGL, so NO no x-ship bearing only 1 bearing support pinion gear which most shimanos has this bearing.

On X-ship shimano instead of one you would have two support on either side of pinion. I like this set up better than x-ship bearing, I swapped out bearing for bushing on one of my Curado 70.

There is also an Engetsu based off the Curado 70.  It has bass micro mod gears and an aluminum handle side plate.  It is a very smooth and solid feeling little reel.  It can cast all the 20# braid off the spool with a 4 inch Dinger on a 168ML Zodias rod.  Looks good while doing it too.

With Shimano discounting the current Curado70, I'm hoping that the next version of this reel takes after its JDM counterpart.

That's actually the reel I was aiming for. The seller I bought from did a switch-a-roo to the Engetsu I got (more of a caisitas) but for its price I agreed and it turned out to be a cool reel for the price.

Hopefully they do come out with this version of the 70 or imo the 200k. A deeper spool would serve it well for stripes but for bassin' it looks like a solid platform! Hopefully we don't drive its price up.

Yes the Engetsu I have 4+1 bearings is quite smooth as of now. I'm guessing you swapped to a bushing because the bearing gets a touch of water and becomes rough feeling? I say this because my curado I got that way and had to replace the bearing (I used ceramic bearing for its better protection from moisture that a great friend provided) I tried repacking the old bearing with grease but I guess the balls we're too far gone (using a sharp hook to open the bearing)
