short version:

what lures would you guys suggest to use in poor visiblity water, plus its dark, and calm quiet water?

So I have watched a ton of videos about how to bass fish at night.  I have not been able to catch anything at night. I began thinking to myself, maybe its not because its night, but just the time of night Im fishing. Anyways, the water visibility is not much, maybe about a few feet during the day, then you add that its dark and I guess the fish cant see a d**n thing. The conditions at night are generally like this, low water visibility, plus its dark, and the water is usually very calm and quiet.

Black n blue chatterbait would be my go to as long as vegetation allows.

Also wondering if you have been fishing the same spots consistently day and night?

I night fish often. this year ive neglected the buzzbait for some reason but that works. last night i got a decent one on a double colorado spinner bait at night. dont forget to put the trailer hook on.

I've caught bass at night on jitterbug, buzzbait and Colorado blade spinnerbait......lots of fun and big fish can be had.

I don't night fish any longer as I'm an evening drinker, the two don't mix.

Bass in off colored waters are lateral line feeders.

Your lure selection should be ones that move a lot of water or make a lot of noise or both.

Catt has a lot more experience night fishing then I have and agree with the lateral line senses being predominate in off color water with low visibility.

I would look for a lake with good water clarity at least 3' to 5' or more for night bass fishing. Add rattles to your bottom bumping lures and retrieve noisy surface lures at a steady pace to give the bass a chance at striking accurately.

I have found that its better for me to just sleep after it gets dark. Winter would be the perfect time for night fishing because its dark at 6 pm but the idea of night boating in cold water sounds pretty dangerous

At night with quiet, still water I like some noise. I'll usually start off with a black jitterbug and work it just fast enough so I can feel it through my rod.  If I don't hear any fish jumping then I start moving down the water column.

It's a "hydrodynamic" thing.

Drinking and fishing is as American as apple pie, aint nothing better than catching a buzz while fishing and the same for catching a fish while buzzed.

Now if I could do those two plus sex, I'd have a Costanza trifecta!
