Need boat advice!!!

Ok I am looking to buy my first bass boat and dont have a whole lot of money right now, and I am only 20. So, I have found a 1993 Lund alluminum hull bass boat. It has a 70 horse carbeureted Johnson motor on it. It has a livewell, foot controlled trolling motor, fish finder, depth finder, and the boat is in good condition. It is 17 foot long with a trailer, and has a custom made boat cover thats only a few years old. The boat has been taken care of I can tell. So, i was just wondering how much this boat is really worth? I talked him down to $4000.00 the other day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No way I'd pay $4000 for a 15 year old boat. I'd think somewhere between $1000-2000 would be plenty enough

Spend a little time searching the internet and places such as Ebay, boat trader and others you can find some really killer deals. Now that summer is just about over, hold and you should really be able to get at the very least a decent Pro Craft or Nitro with at least a 115. A Triton tr21 with a 225 evinrude went for under 10k on Ebay last week.

Kudos on talking him down but that still seems expensive as hell.  I just bought (and then turned around and sold) a 1999 G3 175 Pro with carpet a 70HP Yammy, 46# foot TM, and the works.  The boat was ready to drop into the water and fish and I only paid $3500.

Look on NADA...that will give you a rough "what's it wrth price"

It just seems expensive....I think I would pass...but that's just me.

A little more info would be helpful since there is a variety of Lunds out there.  Some would be worth that and some wouldn't.

I just paid $3000 for a 1996 15' 8 fiberglass Stratos with a 70 hp Johnson, stainless prop, built in fuel tank, 2 ea. depth finders, trolling motor; book value was $3,200

OK well I have not seen this boat yet cuz i found it on the internet and havent had a chance to go see it yet. But it is a 1995 17ft bass tracker nitro that is fiberglass. It has a 1996 115 horse mariner motor, and trolling motor and depth finder and a trailer. Their asking $3295 for it. Still too high?

If you go by nada pricing on older boats, you just got a REAL good deal.  They don't take actual value into account, and just run on a slide rule system, which is fine for a few years, but doesn't work much more than 4 or so.  I use them just to check weights of outboards.  

Though I would pay significantly more for a Lund as opposed to another equivalent, I don't think I would go over 3200 for what you mention.  Probably less, depending on condition.

first off, everybody has their own opinion, and it really comes down to you. If you really like the boat then get it. yes I would always try to get it at the lowest price you can, but boats run different prices in different part of this great country. metal boat aren't real popular down south, but up north they are king. also light wieght, mid range power boats are in high demand right now with the gas prices. and its a LUND, one of the best, if not the best metal boats out there. they do run higher $$ than others. Yes you can get a glass boat for less. maybe he want a metal boat. I know here in western Pa. metal boat are king and at that price it wouldn't stay around long. there are many boats like that with 9.9-25hp for 3-4 K for sale around here

Depending on the condition of the Nitro, I don't think that price is to far off the mark.  There should be some wiggle room with that price though.

I have a Nitro as well and I almost sold it for $6500 but I decided that if I did sell it I would never be able to buy another one that is in as good of condition My is also a 1995 Nitro/Tracker with a 115hp.

I have taken good care of my boat and There is maybe 3 scratches on it but nothing that deep and it runs smooth as it did when it came from the manufacturer. 8-)
