I got to go fishing couple days ago and when we pulled into the ramp...wind was howling and we came in on the right side which is now my "blind" side.  Well I scratched my buddy's boat.  His boat has lots of sparkle but this scratch is just in the white and about two inches long and very narrow....question is can this be fixed easily?

Thank you

Call mfg see if you can get touch up or a paint code . Brush in the scratch once dry use some hard as nails clear coat fingernail polish this will fill and blend the scratch to near invisible

Remember white is not just white theirs about a million shades of it

If you have it professionally fixed at least the white is the least expensive and easiest repair.

Your best bet to fill the scratch is to use a clear gel coat.  You didn't say that the scratch went through the white, so a clear gel coat is your best bet.

Fingernail polish, while okay for touch up is not as durable as gel coat.

Build the repair a little higher than the surrounding surface.  Once it has cured use  a 1200 wet or dry sand paper to remove the excess (higher) material.  Then use a slow buffer with a mild rubbing compound to restore the gloss that sanding removed.

Once done, finish with a good wax.

We have an expression, "The .....'s kids also have to go to college", in this case fill in gel coat repair guy. I know if I damaged a friend's boat (which happens) I'm not putting some nail polish on it, I'm doing the right thing.
