*For open / crimped spinner baits / buzz baits with no closed loop to tie to - what knot do you find to work the best ? ... At this time , I use the Trilene Knot but am willing to listen to perhaps better  knot choices  for these open / crimped line tie lures ?

What’s wrong with the Trilene knot? You know what they say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

I use whatever terminal knot I use for that line type other places - a 5 turn uni knot for monofil, a palomar for braid, and whatever the knot is called that Shaw Grigsby uses for flurocarbon.  Like all big baits, the palomar can be a pain to tie, but I still use it in the rare instances I use braid for a wire bait.

San Diego jam knot is ideal for spinnerbaits by using the lure weight to assist tying the knot.

Have used the uni knot a few times, mostly use a San Diego jam knot. Neither have failed me yet.

I use a SD Jam Knot, and I've never had issues with my knot moving around on the wire. Even after several fish catches.

Thanks for the replies - I'm going to try the San Diego Jam and Pitzen knots to see how I like them ; not sure if a Uni knot is much different than the Trilene knot is terms of strength ?

I use the trilene knot on spinners, Buzz, lipless, inline spinners, chatters, basically anytime i'm using mono.  I just know how to tie it and it never fails.  i can use polamar but dragging the lure back through is a pain.

I've moved to the 'Multifile Knoten' for all my tying needs. Simple and quick, seems strong enough for all my uses

The Pitzen is just one step less than the San Diego jam and just as strong.  I can tie it with gloves on in just a few seconds.  I is not real Arig friendly but I don’t know what is.

Braid would be Palomar... other lines use either Trilene or the Swindle Double Shindo knot..

Palomar for ALL lines....period.....end of story......  I never have a Palomar slip on a spinnerbait. But, again, it's got to be tied correctly.

I use an improved cinch for those baits.  I'm generally using 15# line, so knot strength is plenty.

I love spinnerbaits.

I've used the Uni knot 99% of the time since I started tying it in the early '80s. After a few months I could tie it on the beach at night in the wind. I think the directions came with a package of Stren. Or maybe Silver Thread, but probably Stren. I use it in freshwater, the Chesapeake Bay and surf fishing the Outer Banks with weights up to 8 ounces. I used to have a rod that would throw 12, but I traded it on a portable gas grill, collectable turntable and some other stuff. If 8 and bait won't hold I'm going home. Or to the bar.

Moisten the Uni knot and then moisten it some more before you tighten it. That's probably good advice for any fishing knot.

I use a Palomar.

I believe the only concern some have with the Palomar is with FC main line where some (A Mart) claim it cuts the line .

Same here! I use an improved clinch knot for darn near everything with mono.
