Finally got a break in my hectic work schedule and managed to get some fishing today at a local lake here in NY. Was able to fish from 7 to 1 PM and I didn't get anything. Started with my frog setup and managed to get one blowup. Topwater bite shut down shortly after that.

Started using a booyah chart spinnerbait with willow blades and didn't get anything after an hour. Eventually switched to a jackhammer in Shad and chart and didn't get anything either, the lake I was fishing used to be a brick field so there was lots of open water to cover, this lake holds huge bass and pickerel and I managed to get a solid 4lber there in july.

After none of the moving baits worked I figured I should start throwing my confidence bait which is a GP football jig in 3/8oz around cover and didn't get anything except occasional snags and bumps into rocks.

Anybody else having a hard time figuring out the fish this weekend? A couple of days ago the bite was on fire but since the temperature dropped the fish around here have been difficult to find in my past two outings.

Temps here went from steady upper 90's to mid 60's but water temps are still in the 80's.

I managed a 2lb pickerel this morning at daylight, nothing after.

Better days ahead.

Hope so man I keep hearing about fall being one of the best times of year. So far nothing has shown that yet.

Agreed!

I went out to a pond that has always treated me right on prior trips, 630a to about 930a and absolutely nothing. I tried both my Frog and Whopper Plopper, Senko worm, Black/Blue Chatterbait, and not one attempt at a bite despite seeing blow-ups and turns all around me. Temps even dropped and was in the mid 70's (been upper 90's) with blue bird skies.

My last 2 after work trips have fared the same as well. I almost announced my retirement from Bass Fishing ?

Here in Maine as fall returns and the colder weather seeps in the fishing just dried up. I tried things that were sitting in the bowels of my tackle box I hadn't touched in years. Little to no luck. On my way back to the ramp to take my boat out for the season I pulled up a tiny yellow perch on a lure about it's size. A final slap in the face for me.

Ah well, on to spring...

Yeah man I don't know what's going on right now but it needs to change. Maybe the water temp is still higher than the air temp but I know this though. The fish are definitely there and they're eventually gonna get hungry...

Every fish is on the Keto diet down here.

Wife is not however. She is on the Otek. That’s Keto backwards.

What do you think it is?

Honestly, at one small pond that was great last year I really think someone took them home. It’s been all dink’s and not to many of them. At other places I think it’s me fishing from the shore, I’m just not where the bass are at the time. The water gets lowered and it’s tough. In the spring there’s a fish on every rock and log in the high water. In a nutshell I just can’t find them, in the little time I have to go right now.

Last weekend I got one dink in two days of pond fishing. I’m hoping when the temps start to stabilize a little the fishing will pick back up.

Went out yesterday for 3 hrs and not even a bit using a senko and fat ika.  They stocked trout earlier in the day so I caught one of those, but not what I was going for.  Socal bass fishing is so frustrating.

October has been an off month for me too. I’ve caught a total of 3 bass this month. All of them dinks. Shallow water and big temp swings don’t mix very well around here.

october has been good to me until this week.

the local lake just  turned over. I was skunked there for the first time yesterday.

it was like the dead sea, one small bite, with no hookup. I am assuming it was a sunfish.
