Craig GoldenBoy McDavid Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I have an old Bass Hunter EX or 120 handed down from my uncle and a MinnKota PowerDrive 55# trolling motor. Are there any bow mounting solutions besides welding a custom bracket or building a deck for the front half of the boat? I can’t weld and I don’t want to lose a bunch of space to a deck since I’m 6’4” and usually fish with my wife. I also like the idea of taking the trolling motor on/off easily for days I want to pond fish and can’t use the trolling motor (the pond owners won’t allow any motors). I’ve contemplated getting the Bass Hunter transom accessories bracket from their website and attaching the MinnKota quick release plate to the bracket. Didn’t know if the BH bracket would have enough surface area for the MK plate to attach or if it would be sturdy enough to handle a 55# thrust TM even if I did manage to get it attached. I checked the BassRaider 10e thread for solutions already and the only things I saw were custom made brackets and decks. Someone mentioned welding a clamp to the bottom of the MK quick release plate which seems like the route I would take if I knew how to weld. Anyone found any other solutions? Is there a company out there that sells what I’m looking for? Is there anyone here that could weld a clamp to the quick release plate and sell it? I’m out of my element here and my google skills seem to be failing me. This seemed like the best place to get a good answer so I created an account. Forgive me if the answer is already out there and I’ve overlooked it. Quote

Craig GoldenBoy McDavid Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 MickD I don’t have a good pic of my boat and I’m not home right now, but it looks just like this https://images.app.goo.gl/uwXyxyQGtePd8Hno9 25 minutes ago, MickD said: Can you provide a photo of the bow where you want to mount the motor? Super User MickD Posted October 6, 2019 Super User Posted October 6, 2019 Got it. I don't have a clue. Sorry. Quote

Super User MickD Posted October 7, 2019 Super User Posted October 7, 2019 Looks like it's designed for a clamp-on motor. Quote
LonnieP Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 A trolling motor clamps on to the piece of aluminum on the front of the boat. If you want to mount a foot controlled motor you would probably need to build a deck. Easiest solution would be to mount a hand controlled motor in the front and reverse the head on it. 1 Quote

I’ve already got a Minnkota PowerDrive with foot control. I’ve made a connection with someone that has a metal printer. I’ve already mocked up my design in tinkercad and sent them the blueprint. I’ll report back if it works. heres a video that shows a better idea of what I’m going for: 1 Quote
