Hey guys,

just started fishing and have a ton of questions. Here’s two for now

1. For salt water:

What lb test braided line is good for stripers, inshore, etc.?? And what LB test leader would go good with that? Is there a rule of thumb what lb test leaders Go well with main line? Or do you put on a leader for the weight of the fish you’re fishing for?

Mono or fluro leader for fishing sand worms and poppers?

2. Same questions for freshwater application but fishing for bass, carp etc??

Welcome. These forums are directed towards freshwater bass fishing. (There is one forum for other species.) Your question is so broad that I would recommend exploring the whole site (reading forums, articles, etc.) Specific questions will come from that. Enjoy developing your skills here.

x2. Striped bass fishing can entail spinning or BCs comparable to bass gear, or much heavier tackle depending on where one is fishing, and the size of the fish which can run a couple of lbs to over 50. PM the specifics or start a thread on other fish species, and I can point you in the right direction. 718 as in the boroughs?
