JG233 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I fish from a kayak. This lake is very close to me and I've fished it a handful of times, but never found it to be very productive. My lake options are limited right now. There's not a lot of productive water that's close to me. I'd love to be able to drop by this place and do well for a few hours. Here are the current conditions. It's been hot, 90 during the day, but the temp plummets tomorrow: it'll be a high of 70 or so. The water is usually muddy, very little clarity. It's about 200 acres. Anyway, where would you fish and what would you use? Thanks a bunch! Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted October 3, 2019 Super User Posted October 3, 2019 I'd fish rocky areas starting deep working shallow with a SpotSticker Pro football head 1/8 oz and a junebug Trick worm. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted October 3, 2019 Super User Posted October 3, 2019 That arm mid way on the right looks interesting, as does the area dow(n) by the dam.. 1 Quote
Harold Scoggins Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I'd use a chatterbait or other search style baits and beat those points and adjacent ledges along the east. Check out the arms along the way if time permits. Have a jig, small swimbait, crank, and topwater in the gate at the ready. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 4, 2019 Super User Posted October 4, 2019 There is a main lake point 1/4 mile from the dam on the west side that looks good to me. Look closely there is a small flat about 150 yards before the point that forms a small knob. The small flat is a big bass holding area, the point a feeding area. A crossed the leaked from this point are 2 other points within 1/8 mile of the west side point that could hold bass depending on the wind direction and bait fish population. The points are typical jig water and drop shot finesse area close to each other during fall to winter seasonal periods. Tom 1 Quote
JG233 Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Wow - I've got the bass all stars on this thread. Thank you all. I'll report back tomorrow. @WRB - I see where you mean on the west side of the lake - near the channel right? Across from the point, are you talking about where it goes from 15ft to 3ft? And then near the 24ft mark? Quote
JG233 Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Well, I didn't catch anything of size, but I did pretty well with numbers. There was a lot of action on that main lake point @WRB identified. I wouldn't have spent as much time fishing that location on my own, but I think there's a ton of potential there. I didn't have any luck on the flat near that point, it seemed pretty barren. I'll try it again another day. I think we're kind of still in summer mode here. The water temp peaked at 75. I really need learn more about breaking down maps before I head out to new water. I might post another one or two in the next few weeks to try and get more help with a game plan. Thanks again! Quote
Super User geo g Posted October 5, 2019 Super User Posted October 5, 2019 Work the areas with a quick drop off, close to shallow flat. Work the entire water column in these areas until you find where they are at that time of day, under the conditions. It's amazing how they will move up and down the column according to the weather and light penetration. Find vegetation close to the drop offs, and work the edges early and late. Use a variety of plastics Texas rigged, and change the cadence to see what they want. Quote
