Mine is still in my rotation. I did change the stock handle to a handle off of  a Curado K because the stock one was a little small for my liking. I mainly use it for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits with 30lb braid. It is still a smooth reel but it is not as smooth as the Curado DC(it is as smooth as a Curado I). But do prefer the braking profiles and the option of more adjustment with the I-DC5 system of the Scorpion over the I-DC4 of the Curado dc. Also to me the Scorpion palms a little bit better than the Curado Dc as it is a tad narrower and better shaped on the palming side.

I have one but have not used it a whole lot yet as I have not had very long. Like matbellon3 I use it for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits but am using 16# Sunline Shooter. Like matbellon3 I bought it for the I-DC5 system for the same reasons he did. But have read that that system is tuned to the way the Japanese cast & the I-DC4 for the way we do & read some complaints about it( I think I read that on Tackle Tour). I have not a problem with the reel at all & cast it like I do my other reels. I do not have the Curado DC so I can not compare them. So far I am very satisfied with it but I guess time will tell.

Anybody using this?

Yes, I had one (1.5 yrs) till a someone else decided to permanently borrow it. Performed excellent. Worked great for throwing lighter baits. Had such a sexy "zinnngg" noise when you cast. I ran my cast control pretty loose and if I "forked" up a cast I could nest it. It was definitely more forgiving then non-DC in that aspect. The "nest" wouldn't be as deep or as bad. Good for skipping but don't try to drive dock nails back in at four feet with your 1/2 oz jig.

I bought one in the spring to evaluate.  I will be buying more.  If you’re willing to go with a JDM reel,  it’s a good deal.

Why?

Just buy a SLX DC or Curado DC

Can you explain? Do you have experience with both reels?

I heard the JDM reels do not have the Shimano warranty. Is this true?

Yes,  that is my understanding.  There maybe a way to get service from Shimano Japan that I'm not aware of.  They are not supported by Shimano America.  It could also be difficult to get parts for the reel.  Looking at the Scorpion DC parts diagram,  it looks like most BUT NOT ALL of the parts are the same as the Metanium DC.  I can't say that for sure but it looks like it to me.  I'm sure others here have more experience with JDM reels and can share their experiences.  Personally,  I've owned more reels in my lifetime than I can count and I have never had one serviced under warranty so I'm willing to take the risk.  It is a risk though.
