Luke Barnes Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 I've heard of a few lakes and rivers with smallies in them. Only one I know for sure is Tenkiller because they just held an Elite tourney there. Other than that has anybody had success catching smallmouth in Oklahoma from the bank? From the bank with no electronics I should say. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted October 1, 2019 Super User Posted October 1, 2019 I would try Eufaula if I were you. I have caught a bunch there, never from the bank though. That's about as close to Tulsa as I can think of. Others would be Arbuckle and Murray but they are quite a ways away from Tulsa. Quote
bagofdonuts Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 There's got to be lots of creeks with them in the ouachita and ozark regions Quote

I dont know anything about small mouth either. What they like, where they hang out, what kind of structure they like etc..... Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted October 2, 2019 Super User Posted October 2, 2019 Yea, I don't necessarily go target them, but when I have got on them those seemed to be the best spots. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 3, 2019 Global Moderator Posted October 3, 2019 Pumpback/Chimney Rock is suppose to have some giants. I've seen pictures of big ones that allegedly came from there. Never fished it so can't say so for certain but it seems to have the makeup of a smallmouth lake. Quote
Titan Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Illinois River! Full of smallmouth! We used to float down on a tube and stop at all the deep holes to fish. We caught smallies and a lot of flatheads there. We caught them on a 3 inch smoke colored grubs on 1/8 oz jig heads. 8 lb test on a spinning rod/reel. Quote

Tyler McBee Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 The Glover River and Upper Mountain Fork River in SE Oklahoma (McCurtain County) are great for smallmouth. Best way to fish these streams is by innertube. You may have to hike in a half-mile or so from the logging roads but it's well worth it. Quote
