Super User J Francho Posted October 4, 2019 Super User Posted October 4, 2019 I'm thinking a custom build off some stand up salt blank. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted October 4, 2019 Super User Posted October 4, 2019 In the “expensive and JDM” category there is the Megabass Lilypad Survivor. It’s rated 3/8-1oz. Also the Daiwa Black Label lg 631 mhf-fr which is rated 1/4-1.5 oz. I have been eyeing both of them but have yet to pull the trigger. Quote

I like 6'6" rods and want to find a rod like this to lay the wood with jigs. Right now I'm stuck with 7' Heavy and try as I might I hate fishing them. The length is too awkward. I'm dead set on 6'6" if such a rod exists. I know someone chuckleiconed® the cut down a longer MH rod post above, but that is actually the best way to go short of building a custom stick. There is no reason why a blank needs to be built or modified keeping the original length. Of course, one would have to have a good idea as to what the finished product should fish like, a seemingly foreign concept in the "InterWeb® help me find a rod" culture we find ourselves in. A lot of custom surf and Jetty sticks were and are cut down a little or a lot from either or both ends. 2 hours ago, J Francho said: I'm thinking a custom build off some stand up salt blank. LMAO... dgalex Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 This caught my eye because I'm thinking of buying one for BIG spinnerbaits: https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/g-loomis-classic-mag-bass-fishing-rod-mbr785-gl3.html If this isn't what the guy was looking for, I don't know what is: "MBR785 GL3 is the most powerful pitching rod we make! It' s got a magnum power butt-section with an extra-stiff tip. It will force even the biggest bass away from trouble, no matter how big the bass or how thick the cover. It is a really good choice for fishing peacock bass in South America and it will handle large pike and muskies... no problem. This is the "Big Mac Daddy" for close-quarters, combat bass fishing. GL3 gives you a great rod at a mid-range price. Value and performance... a great combination!" Quote
Spy Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Love those MBR tapers, they keep fish pinned regardless of what lure is tied on without ever feeling under powered. Quote
