If the world was about to end and you could only pick up one rod and reel combo and one bait, what would be your go to? Personally I would grab a spinning set up with some finesse worms and drop shot til the end.

What makes you think the world isn't about to end? Haven't you been watching the news? ?

Spinning and worms for me too, but you know, you'd run out of worms eventually. You can't run to the bait store, the zombies would get you.

lol, I have my rod in hand and am ready to head to the wilderness. They would probably last me a day ?

Interesting question.   I had a dream about a month ago that the world was coming to an end and me and a life long fishing buddy headed to Kentucky Lake where we planned to fish till the end.   I don't remember what we were fishing with.  Would probably be Zoom Lizards ?

Well, I wouldn't have to worry about my rotator cuff, so I'd take a 7' H/F Mojo Bass, a Tranx 300a loaded with 20 lb. InvizX, a bunch of 1 oz. Dardevles, and go for the big stuff.  BTW  .... when is it? Next Tuesday?  That's when my taxes are due.   ???   jj

Not to be difficult but weird question. Better put. "If you had to choose one rod, bait combo and reel to use for the rest of your life what would it be?".

The end of the world thing makes me think, 'fishing?'

Yeah, that's a completely different way of putting it alright. Brings that rotator cuff back into the picture. I'd probably move down to a Mojo Bass 7' MH/MF, a Tranx 200a in 6.3, 17 lb. InvizX  and 3/4 oz Dardevles. Big change, huh?  ???   jj

Here's an old Far Side cartoon that I liked so much I got it framed.

I love the farside. I keep a supply of books in the bathroom. No joke. They're like Robin Williams. He was the only real comedian who could make me laugh. Farside had the only cartoons that were actually clever and or funny.

This cartoon is in my bathroom as one of Gary Larsons favorites.

I'm a Chemistry/Biology guy and was in college in the late '80's.  We had Far Side cartoons posted all over the lab!!

I was thinking of it like as in a post-apocalyptic world where you were one of the few survivors, not like one last fishing trip before every single person on the planet dies, because yeah, who would go fishing? I don't think any of us are that hardcore fishermen.

I'd take a flippin stick and a jig. Not that it's the smart choice, I just love fishing that way.

I love that one. Every time I see it it makes me laugh.

Oh yeah, for me it’d have to be a 7’ mh rod and a big ole double willow, one gold one silver blade, white spinnerbait. I’ve probably caught more huge smallmouth on that setup then anything else out there, and man is it ever fun when they absolutely crush it!

Is the world ending with water temps above or below 60 degrees?

Below 60:  My Falcon drop shot rod with 1/15th Shroomz and half of a coppertreuse-colored Zinker Z.

Above 60:  My Champion XP spinning rod with a 3/8 tungsten weight, 4/0 wide gap hook, and a Zoom Trick Worm (T-rigged).  Color depends on the body of water.

Almost guaranteed to die with my rod bent.

Honestly,  I'm taking an ultralight with a small crankbait or roostertail and I'm going to catch em all before I go
