I skip alot of docks with my Ned rigs, so a ned jig without a weed guard is almost useless to me.  If you skip over any sort of horizontal/angled brace... it's almost guaranteed to hang.

Right now the Gene Larew Ned Pighead Jig is my go to.  From a fishability standpoint it is great.  The head design skips like a dream and the weed guard holds up great.  Not sure what it's made of but it doesn't get bent out of shape.  I never realized just how good these jig heads skip until I went back to the normal mushroom heads and casts were barely making it to the dock that usually went way under.

The down side to these jigs is the build quality is crap.  The jig head will start to wobble on the hook fairly quickly (never comes off though) and the keeper is junk.  First thing I do is clip off the keeper with pliers and use a dab of gel super glue to fix my zman plastics in place.

Best I have tried is the Trokar tungsten finesse ned head. Sharpest out there and on sale at Cabelas.

The Berkley half heads are very nice as previously mentioned.

Z man makes ones called nedlockz jig heads that are much stronger and more durable. I have been using those instead of the standard wire ones and they won’t bend.

the keeper is leaps and bounds better and the hook is bullet proof. Only ned head necessary.

I have enough ned heads for years now as I keep buying them looking for 'perfect'.

Owner and Outkast are both nice for open hook, especially for heavier line or where there's a legit probability of a big fish.

My favorite ewg is the lifted jigs. It works well, I just wish it had a slightly shorter hook.

And favorite non-ewg weedless is the Rhino - the way the line tie is set up is really well done as it isn't snaggy.

I fish the lifted most often, weeds never really go away in Texas.

I have some, they are nice and small. Haven't fished them yet.

Believe it or not, I have my best luck with the cheapest, plainest ball head jigs, no weed guard. Neds get a lot of fish, but some days you have to stick them really fast before they spit it out.  I like a 1/0 or 2/0 hook to give me plenty of point exposure. I get hung up a little more, but my catch to bite ratio doubles.

Some day, someone is going to make a jig hook with a tear drop shaped eye that will keep the knot where it belongs....I hope.

Yes sir. I have both types. they work very well. The hooks are sticky sharp, and are a stronger hook than zman.

I'll second that the Siebert Outdoors (sponsor here) Morel jig head is a good option in 1/16th oz. red , black & green pumpkin colors .
