Finally signed up...

Been reading this site for years and just lurking in the dark. I recently caught the bass bug again and have been finding myself on this site more and more. Been fishing for my entire life but certain hobbies seem to take precedent over others, but always come back to fishing, especially for largemouth. Grew up in south orange county fishing all of our local man made lakes and ponds, LMV, LF II, Irvine, RSM and a few others wish I would have realized when I was younger how good we had it around here for quite some time. Bummer so many of these places that had amazing bass fisheries have had fish kills or algae problems leading to their eventual demise, but still really fortunate to live within driving distance of some great bass fishing. Love reading all of posts from guys who have been fishing this area for years, always find great info from tons of different guys on here.

tight lines!

Welcome!!

Lake Forest II is still kicking, we were lucky to not get the yellow algae issue that wiped out Mission Viejo & RSM.

Although a half dozen residents on LF II have purchased pond boats in the last year or so, fishing pressure is still relatively low.  Most Saturdays, I'm the only fishing boat on the lake and I will see only 2 or 3 folks fishing from a dock or greenbelt area.  I had a 50 fish day last Saturday and am looking forward to a rainy, cloudy day this Saturday to get the fish really active ?!

@OCdockskipper Im so glad to hear that the algae issue never made its way over there. I know it does have a decent amount of dinks, but I do vividly remember catching 8lb+ bass on several occasions during the winter rains. How is the class of fish currently over there? If there hasn't been any type of big die off, I'd imagine there is still some good size fish swimming around. Even as a kid (90's-00's) I don't ever remember seeing them stock that lake, seems like there is no reason is the fishery healthy? It looks like you have that place pretty freaking dialed! Haven't fished LFII in over 5 years since moving out of the neighborhood up the street. Have a couple friends that still live in the association so hoping to start fishing the public access area over there the next couple weeks once I get a guest pass. Maybe I'll see you over there!

Very good, there are a bunch of 2 - 3 lb fish, 14 to 17 inches long.  I run into 1 or 2 big ones every year, I have had 3 over 8lbs and another 2 over 7 lbs.

Most years have a healthy spawn and the numerous big catfish (10 to 15 lbs) keep the smaller bass population in check to avoid them stunting.

If you fish there, I'm the only Pond Prowler with a front casting deck.  Look forward to meeting you.
