goat834 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Anyone have any ideas? I have a 14' jon boat and I am looking for a way to secure my poles during transport and fishing. Any thoughts or pics would be helpful. Quote
JShrock07 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I added this onto my boat and I have not been happier!!! They hold my rods during travel and they are easy to use!!! Splat Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I prefer the rod holders that hold the rods upright Like these: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0013542014970a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&sort=all&QueryText=rod+holder&Ntk=Products&_D%3AhasJS=+&Go.y=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&No=36&%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Ftemplates%2Fgiftcertificate%2Fgiftcertificate.jsp%3Fid%3D0005586990011a%26podId%3D0005586%26catalogCode%3DIB%26navAction%3Djump%26indexId%3D&_D%3A%2Fcabelas%2Fcommerce%2FCabelasCatalogNumberFinder.giftCertificateURL=+&N=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0 I have the six rod holder and couldn't be happier with it. The rods are vertical so you do have to be mindful of casting side arm, but I just mounted mine dead center in the boat and they haven't gotten in the way yet. Sorry it's a bad picture but you can see how I have them mounted, Good option if you have the room to mount. Bill Quote
IDbasser Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I have the same straps that NitroMan uses in my bass boat. They work great. I keep my rods in them while fishing when I am moving to other areas. Have also put rods in them when going down the road. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted August 25, 2008 Super User Posted August 25, 2008 I installed a rod buckle onto the deck of my 16' aluminum jon boat, just like you see on the larger bass boats. Whether I'm running 15 mph down the lake 8-), or 70 mph down the highway, these have worked flawlessly. Quick, simple, and low cost. http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0018118012125a.shtml -T9 Quote
