Wanted to share with all one of the interesting places I fish on the Tidal Potomac.  From where I launch near my home, it is a 15 minute trip down there.

That looks kind of interesting - I've seen the REI ads for that paddling trip in email and have fished Aquia starting at Widewater.  Do you launch on the VA side and cross the Potomac?  How was the fishing?

I launch at Leesylvania park and rundown there.  I do not go into the submerged wrecks, but do go into the big cove behind them.  I fear for my lower unit and prop LOL  Catch rate is so so.

Been meaning to get my yak over there.  I fear that it will be a bit crowded this year since WaPo travel section did a feature last Sunday.   Maybe next spring.  Unfortunate that while it is about 3 1/2 miles away, the drive is well over an hour each way....two plus depending on time of day.

I have fish there a few times, it’s quite a good fishery for bluecats, snakehead and bass.

It’s also an excellent place to lose lures, scratch up your yak, and generally get yourself into some trouble.  The amount of metal in the water cannot be understated.

But it is a very fun and unique place to go fishing and I’m pretty much always down for meeting someone there with my kayak.   Because of the recent exposure it’s been getting it’s probably going to be uselessly crowded with non-fishing kayakers most weekends however.

The only times I have done well there is when I was fishing all up in the wrecks in my yak where no sane person would take a normal boat.
