Has anyone used both of these and knows if the maxumm is worth the extra money?  It says it can save battery up to 5x.  I would be looking at the 50 lb thrust its 370 for maxumm and 200 for endura i think.  Any advice or anybody used these that can give some input?  thanks

The significant difference between the endura and max is the way the motor speed is controlled. Both use the same motor, but different speed controls. The Endura switches resistors into the power lead to slow the motor. So at half speed, the resistor selected by the throttle switch is dissipating half the power and the motor is dissipating the other half. On the other hand the MAX motor has an electronic circuit that simply converts the 12Volt power to 6 volt power to reduce the motor speed, and it does this with little power loss. So at half speed the Max will run twice as long as the Endura using the same amount of battery power.

If you use your motor a lot at 1/3 speed, the Max will reduce the battery power used even further, and that is where the 5x power power savings is most likely to happen. But at full throttle both motors use the same amount of power and the Max has no advantage.

So if you do a lot of troling or drifting along casting to the fish, the Max will get you a lot more fishing time on a battery. If you spend most of your time at above half throttle, you will not see much difference.

The only time i go full throttle is spot to spot and usually then i go at speed 4 and not 5 because i dont want to drain the battery faster.  When i get to a spot its usually speed 2 and the highest would be 3 bust mostly 2 or one.

In the boating industry you mostly get what you pay for, and the price difference alone tells which is better. In addition, as explained above, the variable rate controller uses far less energy than the fished rate controller.

When I was looking to add an additional electric motor on my jon boat for electric only lakes, I looked at both and picked the Endura since my only use was going to be the highest setting. Paying extra for battery savings that I was not going to realize would have been a waste.

So i am going to get the maxxum.  The next thing is my minn kota i have now is old and the battery is not lasting nearly as long thats why im getting a new one.  That one is a 36# and i am debating wheter i should go to like a 50# of 40 something.
