MARSH MASTER Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I found this site one day looking for a boat. The deals are way to good to be true. Look at this boat for sale its got to be the biggest scam out there. www.boatsdepot.org/boat.asp?id=2443 What do you guys think? has anyone seen or heard anything about this site? Quote
done Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Check this site out: http://www.worldlawdirect.com/forum/consumer-complaints/10314-buying-boat.html Quote
done Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I did a quick scan on the web. plenty of posts calling these guys Scam artists. I also did some querying on that boat. found 2007's priced at $30k. There is no way you can legally offer that boat at that price and stay in business. I mean a new 8 hp mercury 4 stroke motor alone will run you $1,6000-ish. That motor is a lot bigger than that. The boat alone probably has more than $5,000 worth of raw material in it. From what I have read online about this and this price I would RUN. Quote
Josh VanderMeer Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 It's Probably supposed to say $52 000 : Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted August 15, 2008 Super User Posted August 15, 2008 It's either a scam or a typo. Take your pick. Quote
MARSH MASTER Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 This is no typo there are more boats on there for rediculous prices like that. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 15, 2008 Super User Posted August 15, 2008 This is no typo there are more boats on there for rediculous prices like that. BEWARE................BEWARE....................BEWARE. Quote
J_Zink Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 it's a scam. These same guys have been running these boats on ebay before. Especially the Ranger which I've seen before. Same MO. Wire money via western union to the UK. Most of those got pulled down by ebay before they were up long. Quote
JayW Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 No way that's legit. The motor is worth WAY more than double that in used condition! Quote
KevO Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Ive seen that same boat for sale on the Neshville TN craiglists.com for the same price. Quote
fishbear Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Maybe the color of the boat has something to do with it, as in its a LEMON!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Seriously, though, there is no way that a dealer could sell that boat for that price. Now a scorned woman getting even with her man? Maybe!!!! Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 17, 2008 Super User Posted August 17, 2008 $5,200 for the boat? Do you think it hit something and had to be repaired? That seems like a very good deal, if it is true. New Iberia is just up the road from St. Bernard so maybe you can take a road trip and check it out. Then, let us know. Thanks. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted August 18, 2008 Super User Posted August 18, 2008 The old adage rings true again. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probaly is." I hate thieves and scammers so much. Quote
Bass_junky Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 X2 fishinfiend - I ran across several of these scams on Ebay & Craigslist when I was looking for a boat. Quote

simplejoe Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Ive seen that same boat for sale on the Neshville TN craiglists.com for the same price. yep, About a week ago I saw the same boat on Pittsburgh craigslist, I thought what a good deal If it wasn't a scam. You do find good deals with banks when they repo them but, not a deal like that Quote
