Jim Damon Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 How is smallmouth fishing in Maine in late September? Go to lures? Thanks Quote
CHIP-MAINE Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 been doing well on the androscoggin river so far. not quite as well as last year because there doesnt seem to be as much weed growth as last year maybe because of the long and cold spring run off. got my pb smallie last month on top water in deep water just before dark behind mardens in lewiston. do real well on #4 and #5 mepps. believe me- THEY ARE NOT TO BIG! was eyeballing below the New Auburn bridge this morning where i have done well. keagbassr Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 I try to get up every year around this time,( going up tomorrow)and find the smallies to be fairly aggressive as would be expected. I mostly fish the penobscot and use spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and poppers. Also like tiny torpedoes zara puppys and have mixed in some ploppers the last couple years. Quote

Thanks Expand I was up there in early August and the "hot" bait was a "green" paddletail in the lakes. Buddy of mine who lives there is still hitting them pretty good on these paddletails...so you might want to have a few of those in the tackle bag. I'm going back up in October, and will certainly have a few with me...just in case. Enjoy! 1 Quote
