So, I found a lure the other day while fishing. It was a jerkbait...Smithwick Rogue in what appears to be a Baby Bass color scheme. It was stuck up in a branch of a tree overhanging the water. I was able to snag it with my rod. The lure itself is in great shape but the hooks and split rings were all rusty so it had been there a while is my guess. Well, the 1st picture shows the lure as I found it, rusty hooks and all...the 2nd picture is how the lure looks now with some new Owner Hyper Wire split rings and VMC Round Bend Short Shank treble hooks :happy-111:.

Found this Super Spook today. It seems pretty new, just a few dings and good sharp hooks. May have a hint of rust. Caught no fish so this makes up for it a little. Water is going down slowly.

Found a drone a few days earlier, dug it out of the recently exposed shore. I left it there on a stick for someone else.

I think this lure may have been dropped straight on the ground rather than snagged because it looks too good.

This is a popular bait here in Missouri in the spring, and a good one. Ozark area fisherman love the Smithwick rattlin Rogue

I got the nickname because I fish around trees a lot.  If buds show up to a lake after I do, then they pretty much know where to find me, because much more often than not, I'm fishing around trees.  That being said, my handle isn't "Leaves baits in Trees".  I'm glad Brett's daddy found a decent bait - however, shame on the guy who left it in the tree when it could have been easily retrieved.  Probably the spiritual cousins of some of the guys that fish the lakes I fish, who leave balls of used line lying in the parking lot and hanging from trees & bushes.   I've got very little use for those guys.

Fishing In Trees?

I don't know - it could be just me or the area where I live, but I've always had more success fishing in water than in trees.

I hear ya, I’m always picking up garbage around the boat ramp, fishing line will often be anywhere imaginable. Out bass club puts a line recycling container right at the ramp.  Also, dad found a like new Booyah pad Crasher the other day fishing together. It wasn’t high in the tree at all....score!

When I tried fly fishing I was fishing in trees plenty. Never got bit, though.
