My fishing partner just won a sizable chunk of change in fantasy football and has decided to finally scratch the NRX itch (I'm just as excited as he is)?. I have a lot more and nicer gear than he does so he is consulting me for my opinion on which model. Baitcast rod will be used mostly for texas rig soft plastics. 1/4oz to 3/8oz weight plus soft plastic. We fish the Alabama River moderate to fairly heavy cover at times. What ya enthusiasts recommend?

894C or 873C NRX are the ones I would opt for. The 873C CRR is extremely versatile and great for Carolina rigs, pitching plastics and jigs around docks, etc. The 894C JWR is a phenomenal choice as well. It all depends on how heavy of cover and which lures you intend to throw the most but one of those 2 models for sure.

Good to hear that someone is winning in Fantasy Football because I for sure can't hahahahaha.

I use a 852c with a 1/4 and tube jig, its a smallmouth bass catching machine.

But for heavier cover I would choose a 873c or 843c...

893 was the perfect rod up until the fairly heavy cover part. With that in mind I'd recommend the 894 (I use them both regularly and couldn't be happier with them). As Yumeya m mentioned the 852 is also great (my personal favorite).

894 is what you’re looking for.  I have owned 853, 854, 893, 873, and 894. I currently own and fish an 893 and 2 894’s. The 893 is a great light Texas Rig and senko rod. I find myself using the 894’s the most for jigs, Texas Rigs, and Carolina Rigs.

Personally being light to moderate cover at best I would seriously go for the 893c but If it’s moderate to heavy cover then stepping up to the 894c is probably best. I fish an 853c in light cover, close quarters and I love sticking fish on that rod but wish I had the extra length. But my 894c really has what I need for pulling the big guys out an away from cover or out of heavy mats
