Lews Speed Spool LFS or Revo Xv4

I purchased the Lews to pair with my new TP1 - I have this as my Jig/T-Rig rod with 17# InvisX.  I took it out today and it felt very good, but the tensions knob seemed tight?  I am not familiar with this reel so I do not know how tight it should feel while making adjustments?  I am used to my other reels that "click" but this one is just a turn knob.  This is fine as my tension will always be quite loose for this application.  If you have any insights I would love to hear them??  

 

I say all of that to say that I also have the opportunity to purchase a Revo x v4 in the same gear ratio and the same price.  It was a display so they were marking it down to $75, which is what I paid for the Lews brand new(Thanks Academy price match!).  

 

If you had to choose which reel would you choose.  The brand new Lews, that does feel very solid, or the Revo Display?  I am leaning toward keeping the Lews, unless I am overwhelmed by the responses that it was a terrible buy, lol.

Just a thought, have you looked at the Shimano SLX for $99?  I've had Lews and Revos but I switched over this year to Shimano and am very happy.

I have, I allmost bought the combo for $145 - but I love the TP1 rod and the reel was such a good price I went this way.  I got the rod for $35 after a gift card ($30off) and the Reel was $75.  Hard to beat this combo at that price, whether I stick with the Lews or the Revo.

I'd go with the Lews LFS.  It has a nice feel and has received great reviews.

  the Lew's lfs is an awesome reel the non clicking clicking tension knob should feel a little tight so it doesn't lose its adjustment

Good to know.  It makes sense, as my son has an older BPS reel and the tension knob does not click, but it changes after a handful of cast, and he has to readjust.  Because of this, he has now taken ownership of one of my other rods (Lews Custom). Lol

Once you get into the Tournament MB/MP and up you get the clicking tension knob. I have an LFS for my cranking rod without the clicking tension knob, and I never had it loosen up.

Man is right about the Shimano SLX... but I would stick with the LFS because if it works don’t fix it.

I have gotten to fish the LFS now and am already looking to get another one to upgrade my ProMax (Great reel or the price).  The LFS just feels so solid and put together.  Not sure if that makes sense.  It just feels like it is going to be a work horse of a reel and have some longevity.

I'd probably go with the revo x , as it has a carbon hybrid drag. LFS drag is nylon.

Although I feel the best $100 reel is the tatula 100 or CT (carbon drag in both) from sportsman outfitters. Even the SLX has a felt drag , which I upgraded to carbontex , which made a huge difference.
